Need help with finding help on master

I've just started with DAW/Sonar essentials, when I click new project with Normal template I get a track for free called 'Master', I've searched in help without finding any mention of it. How do i find out about it?

That is a bus. It is a 'track' where you can send all your audio tracks to for control of the total output of the song. You can't record in it, though.
You can also add more buses if you want; one for vocals, another for guitars or drums, whatever you want to control the volumes of a group of instruments in the mix. You can name the buses whatever you like, usually what the instrument(s) going to it are. Output those buses to the Master, the Master to the sound card/audio interface.
Just click the outputs of your audio tracks and you should see Master as an option, plus whatever other buses you may have in the project.

Thanks, for explaining that, I'm just getting the concept of these 'buses'. How can you tell from the list of tracks which is a 'bus'? is there a properties window?

The buses are at the bottom. They will be listed (usually, in the Cakewalk programs I own; I don't have X1) as Bus 1, Bus 2, etc or the aforementioned Master bus or Aux 1, Aux 2 and so on.
Buses will not have an R to arm for recording since you can't record in them.

If you go into Console View, there will be 3 distinct groups of "Tracks"

To the left will be all your Audio and Midi tracks
to the far right will be your Main Outs (Soundcard outputs)
All your busses will be somewhere between these 2 groups

You may have to 'drag' them out using the divider to make them visible
