Need some MIDI and Groove Clip problem.

First, I apologize for there being no sound on the you tube link (more on that later). It's not very long. When I record MIDI, as an example in the video Z3TA +2.1 I recorded a short clip. Every time I try to groove clip it, a little empty space as added. This problem has plagued me since X2. Will someone let me what i'm doing wrong?

Now to the no sound. I have a program called MOAVI to capture screen casts like you see in the you tube video. I can talk on my mic through the AudioBox and it will get capured. But, I can't get any sound that is generated inside any DAW. I like doing screencasts for all kinds of applications. Mr. Anderton any suggestions?

Just tested it myself, it's being caused by the note or clip going over the beat or bar. When using Groove Clips your note and clip have to end right on the beat or bar, if they're over the beat or bar even the slightest bit it'll leave space until the next beat.

Movavi sucks for use with Sonar - I have tried using it too, and Movavi hi-jacks your audio interface to record the mic to video and doesn't allow Sonar to use it to playback audio.  I usually crash out when I have them working together.

I have yet to try a second audio interface (I have a Boss BR-800 I use for field recording) that doubles as an interface to record either the voice over to, or the audio from Sonar.

you may have to physically route the output of your card back in using a cable, then mix the two, mic and other.

No the end just has to not be late.

In order to remain in sync with the timeline when rolled out, Groove Clips have to be a whole number of beats/measures long. SONAR will never truncate a clip on conversion, so if it runs long, the clip will be extended to the next beat. You can override this by opening clip properties in the Inspector, and setting the desired number of beats. This will truncate the clip at the beat you specify so that the iteration starts there.

Also, note that if the clips starts a few ticks late, it will end on that same tick value. This is important for clips that end with a controller message (e.g. Sustain up) because you have to be careful to snap "By" beats/measures instead of "Too" when rolling out copies in order to avoid truncating that last sustain message. Or you need to snap the start of the clip to the measure so you don't have to think about it. I don't usually hard-quantize stuff, but I do recommend having groove clips start on measure boundaries so you don't have to worry about that.

I used a BR 800 for awhile but unfortunately MOAVI didn't work in that either. I guess there is a camstasia open source I could try.

So go from the output of the interface to an input of the interface?
