Need some advice (pros or amateurs)

We've been recording a couple dozen songs,
they can be found at www.soundclick.com/basicaustin

I'd like to know what people think of them as far
as composition, arrangement, mixing, etc...
and which ones are better than others.

I want to know how to promote this stuff.
Which avenues would be more receptive?

If nobody on cakewalk forums has even listened,
how can I expect normal people to get into it?

Please give me some tips!

I listened to Tyco, and some Favourite Movie. Good riffage there.
It sounds a bit weedy, with the drums emasculated and the bass removed all punch. It reminds me of how bad some of the early punk productions were in the early days when it was just cheap studios and largely unprofessional musicians.

Are you mic'ing up real drums, bass and guitars? If you want I could set you up an ftp, send me a cwb and I'll remix one track for you to show how it should sound.

    Learning experience ahead!

Take advantage of Paul's offer, theresnoway! You'll definitely get a fresh perspective. Ask for the bundle back when he's done. You'll learn all kinds of stuff from seeing how someone else does things.

My .02. I just happened to see the Paul had responded to your post!

    You're correct.
    Tyco doesn't sound tough enough.

The bass and guitars were recorded by
mic'ing the amps, then an ART Preamps
    into Sonar.

The kick and snare are samples of our drums
    on a Midi track w/ DR-008...
but the cymbals are actually played by a human.

My buddy and I tend to get stuck in a certain
way of mixing and lose perspective,
so I would be really love to hear what you can do
    with it.

I can FTP you the .cwb if you tell me the info.

    Thanks!

    Hi

I got your TYCO.cwb and I'll have a look at it over the weekend.
Is it a SONAR 5 file cos I can't open it.
Hopefully my upgrade will arrive this week.

    theresnoway,

I'm more of a amateur, but I love listening to all types of muzik. From a listener perspective, I really like your band's sound-very catchy and accessible!! I'm also no genie, but I can see a loyal following for you guys.

that's just my lil' 'ol opinion...
