Need some feedback for a track that I'm working on

Hey guys. I'm working on a track right now, and I've got the basis of it pretty well sorted out, and it's going well. But it feels like there is something missing maybe, and I can't figure out what it is. So I thought I'd put it up on soundcloud and then ask for some feedback and advice here on how to make it a bit better, as I've always received really good advice whenever I've posted on this forum. Thank you all for any advice you can give or even just for listening... http://soundcloud.com/use...gs-of-midnight-work-in

Well I don't really know myself to be honest. It just kind of came out that way and then I simply carried on making it. It was one of those tracks that kind of made itself. So really I don't know what to do now because I've never made anything quite like this before.

This song can go in a number of directions at this point.  Don't let categories get in the way of a good tune.  Obviously, you could write a vocal track, or you could throw in some guitar to give it a focal point.  You could add some exotic percussion to spice it up, or some Gregorian chanting through a vocorder.  It just needs a little cayenne or savoriness to take it to that next step.  Whatever you do, you have a very tasty base to work from.

    All the best,
    Lynn

yep, it needs something!  it's a cool bed so far, but like Lynn says, it needs something, but at this point it really could be anything you want.

Thanks for the advice guys. I was thinking about maybe adding some guitar or something. Also I'm going to experiment with the order in which the various layers come in at the beginning because right now it just seems a bit too sudden to me, like it just kind of starts all at the same time.
