Need to restart Sonar X2 to re-record a track

Need some help please. I have Sonar X2 Producer and everytime I try to record a track (sax) I have to save the song, then close it, reoopen it and then I get a signal back again. Once I record the track or even play the song, I have to do the above to get a signal to record. This is getting beyond frustrating. Any ideas? I'm running a Tascam US-2000 for my audio interface, then into a Yamaha MG24/14 mixer. My mic (Apex 580 condenser) goes to the input on my pre-amp (Art Pro MPA) then out to my mixer (channel 1). I'm running Sonar X2 Producer Edition. I can record my sax by restarting Sonar after saving the file but if I happen to start recording something and then make a mistake the signal is gone. Even if I make a new audio track with the same inputs I get nothing in Sonar. I do however see the signal input on the pre amp, on the tascam and on the mixer but nothing on the armed recording track of sonar until I save and restart the program. Please Help, this is driving me nuts. Keith

Does UI give you any hints - like does the audio engine light stay lit?
What driver mode are you using?

Are there any other audio interfaces/soundcards and I/O drivers selected in the Preferences dialogue?

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

i have issues with my sound card that when i move a clip as the music is playing the engine dies and no sound , untill a restart, but my backup daw with a onbourd sound card has never had this issue.
it would be helpful to know if your engine light goes on as stated above or if sound is just not there
for me the eng stops with a scackle. then its all set with a restart

    To the original poster:

Make sure the sample rate set for the interface matches the sample rate as set in Sonar.
Also, please list the driver version you are using for your interface.
