Need your opinion on the singing here, thanks! (Now streamable!)
So, I'm working on a new track. Well, in fact I'm currently working on three. But this one here has been bothering me a bit. I have only been singing for about 6 months and I've always been told I can't sing etc etc so my confidence level when it comes to singing is pretty low. It's improved alot but is nowhere close to how I feel about my rap. My girl has been singing all her life and I trust her more than myself when it comes to singing but on this track I just can't agree with her so I need help from you guys. I've uploaded two versions of the second verse. It's only the singing in the beginning of the verse that is different between the two but I decided to give you the whole verse anyway to give you a whole perspective of the track. So the first one is how I naturally would like to sing, just as I naturally sang the rest of the track. When my girl said this didn't sound right (she liked the rest of the singing on the verse) I tried all sorts of different approaches and on Test 2 you can hear what she liked the best. At the time I was recording and I listened to the part on Test 2 over and over again I thought it sounded nice, but listening to it with fresh ears it sounds like **** to me whilst the Test 1 sounds pretty good. So please do me a favour and have a listen and let me know what you think. Test 1: http://www.speedyshare.com/EHHw4/Test-1.wavTest 2: http://www.speedyshare.com/W44tP/Test-2.wav

Not sure which voice is yours - or are both of the lead voices yours?

Nobody on this forum will download songs ....either upload to soundclick or soundcloud or reverbnation so they can stream the songs then you`ll get some responses.

Right after listening to both 15x or so I can say that version 2 is much better. :)

As it is a known fact that Wookiee singing kills at a parsec I am not the one to ask about vocals Lets here the whole thing and I will make some observations about the mix.

I like version 2. I don't understand why you say you have no confidence in your vocals. They sound fine to me! Just believe in what you are singing. Version one has segments that don't sound believable at all.

Thank you Rimshot. Well sometimes I do have confidence, but then there are times like these when everyone is saying Test 2 is better than Test 1 which I cannot agree with which makes me question myself. Also I just want to double check with you that you are clear on that it's just the first part "I don't understand it had to go this way" that is different on the two versions. I also noticed Test 2 is the one that is on top in the playlist so just want to make sure Test 2 is the "version 2" you are referring to.

By versions 2 you mean the one named Test 2, right? Thanks for listening.

Version 2 is better on the first verse than version 1.

Is it the way it's sung it's better or is it the right notes on test 2 and the wrong notes on test 1? I'm gonna singing this some more tomorrow. I need to feel that it's right aswell :) Really appreciate the feedback.

Yes, Test 2. Don't question yourself in regards to your singing. It's down to what take works best. I like test 1, but I feel that test 2 is the one that works best. We all have our differing views on it.

Your delivery on version 1 in some spots just doesn't sound like you were into it. There are pitch and timing issues. In those spots, it sounds like a rough vocal and not a finished track. That is why I like version 2 better - it sounds like it is overall a good take. Like others have said, don't 2nd guess as much. Try to listen objectively. Does it feel good? Is it in time? Is it on pitch? Do you believe what you are singing? Does it work with the track? Follow your instincts.

The thing is apart from 00:06 to 00:09 test 1 and test 2 are identical. They are exactly the same. So when you say my delivery on version 1 in some spots just doesn't sound like I was into it and also has pitch and timing issues I'm getting a bit confused because I feel like you are commenting more than on the 3 seconds thats are actually the only thing that is different between the two.

Jimmy is just giving you some general things to think about when you listen back to what you have sung. From the short snip that you have given I can hear that test 2 fits better.
