Needing two pair of glasses is PITA
How do you work on one pair without a second pair?

I use three pairs (or half a dozen pairs of each of the three lense types) :o/ If your optician can't figure out the suitable progressive lenses for you purposes, then one option might be eye surgery, if it fits you case. Not a cheap option, though. (Why doesn't anyone produce neckties inside which you can carry your glasses? It's quite handy to have them hung on the inside loop of a tie, but with a little more design it would be much better.)
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

I've tried that, but I need one hand to hold the frame and the other to operate the screwdriver.

I hate progressives. They make my head hurt So I have two pair of proper bifocals and 6 or 8 of those cheap readers at strategic locations around the house.

I keep reading glasses in stock.... buy in bulk. I consider them disposable. 1.5 and 3.0 rated.... I always have one of each with me. 1.5's for general life in focus stuff and 3.0 for when I need to see the small print and terminals on the electronic gear I work on.... or read.

Two pairs of prescriptions - one at home and one at work. And about 5 or 6 readers scattered throughout the home and car. And a reader pair in my wife's purse. :) Just got my first set of progressives. $500 for the lenses alone!!! :(

I went that route, gave 'em an honest try and took 'em back.

Hi, I have 2x2 on my glasses. Two pairs of COMPUTER glasses (not reading, so distance is more like 24 inches or so), and then two pairs of DISTANCE glasses for driving. The Computer Glasses, were one at work and the other at home, so I would not forget. The Distance, one is shaded/colored dark, and the other is regular. I mostly use the shaded glasses, even at night while driving, because they filter out glare and I see better with it, with the surgically repaired eye.
Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

I'm a month in getting acclimated to progressive lenses, and just now starting to be able to walk without tripping over my feet. The parallax distortion is still annoying and occasionally startling - when I suddenly realize the car in the next lane is RIGHT THERE, not a car-length behind me like I thought. If I had to do it again I'd go with two pair of glasses.
All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to. My Stuff

Yeah bit, I can't / don't walk around with mine - I only use them at my desk. Top part for the computer, bottom for reading. When I walk around I feel sick... :/
