Oh Boy I just watched the introductory video - what a hoot - it's very technical especially when he talks of all the blips and blobs - well I think that's what he was gibbering on about. Listened to the audio samples - sounds quite nice but to say this is BETTER than any other virtual instrument out there is, well wrong (trying not to be rude here!!) And of course it comes from Stinkberg so I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole as the saying goes! Nigel

Unfortunately I started with Cubase 3 (I think) and purchased some very nice virtual instruments that they then proceeded to drop without any notice and without any further back up - very nice of them!! The only one I think they didn't drop (and I dutifully updated every time) was Groove Agent, which of course, whilst still on their roster they haven't updated in YEARS! And just to make sure I was a well looked after customer, they then deleted my account - that's sort of when I gave up forever with them. You know companies like Stinkberg could learn a lot from some other major players (not NI of course!) - I just had a small technical query with Toontrack on Superior drummer - I emailed tech support and got an answer within about an hour - pretty good if you ask me. Cubase 3 SX was my first version of Cubase... I used it for years and upgraded regularly... I just couldn't even get to where I wanted with Cubase...it might have been me but just couldn't seem to get there... I made the move to Pro Tools for about 2 years....hated it...even worse then Cubase. Again, that might be me...but I just didn't care for it. Enter Sonar X1....I like to try new things...so I X1 Studio to play with... Was hooked after about a week....upgrade to Producer, then Expanded, then Production Suite, and now X2. I am QUITE content with the product. But I do believe Cake has some severe marketing and development problems. I'm going to test drive Cubase 7...see how it is.. I will also test drive Digital Performer 8 when it comes available for Windows.. They'll have to be BUTT STOMPING to beat out Sonar...but that's just my opinion.

As a long time Stage, Suitcase and Wurlitzer actual hardware owner...who's current and long time fave is Lounge Lizard (and who is anxiously awaiting the new V4 of same) I found the audio demos of this library very good indeed. Bark...Bite...combined with Phat and Silky smooth. Yum. Quit alerting me to so much good stuff, will ya?

'Ol pal given your track record with those kinds of sounds I'd say just carry on doing what you do, you have it down already, in fact you could be better off marketing some of your own stuff in this kinda ball-park instead of buying more. Jus' sayin'

Thankee kindly ol pal. I suppose you're right but I still find that special Rhodes suitcase sound I used to get elusive. Heck, I can't even get it out of my actual old suitcase model:-). Go figure.

Go figure. I know exactly what you mean. I'm starting to wonder now if they really even sounded like I thought they did back in the day, I've heard so many sampled variants and emulations meantime. I'm going through a Wurli phase at the moment, back to that old Small Faces sound.

there are lots of EP's out there. which is the problem... I've been using the ones in reason for YEARS.. and well props are good at sampling stuff for their instruments. to dismiss their instruments totally is funny, padshop pro / retrologue .. yer I hate em.. the less people that use em the better (for me) I wouldn't say they are consistent and do things I like , but I can say the same for NI now, who I don't find innovative now and at one point bought their products without having to think about it too much. I also got the email, I think their upgrade price from cubase 6.5 to 7 is a bit stink esp. in these times. as for sonar / cubase thing.. I use both. I like aspects of both, and I doubt there are few that just use one DAW software anymore.
