Never In My Life - Blues Rock

"Never In My Life," is the second original tune that I recorded. I had quit playing and singing for over 25 years. Therefore, it turned out pretty good, overall. However, there's a little lip smack going on. I've been able to get that under control now by drinking cherry apple juice, which cuts down the consistency of saliva.
I had plans to get back on stage and do covers. However, after a few months, my heart wasn't into doing covers. I decided to try my hand at writing original tunes.

Since my roots are sixties, blues, rock, country, I decided to try some blues rock.

I really like this tune. Very tough to critique - better than anything I can do, both in arrangement and mix.

    Let me find something:
    >I wonder what the lead guitar would sound like panned a bit more off-center for the fills.
    >Maybe widen the backing vocals.

    Great job!

First, I'm glad you like the tune. One thing that a few people said to me, is I should have added a bridge section. However, I didn't do that because I felt that the tune holds it's own.

I'm not that polished as a lead vocalist at this point. I think that is where the tune could be improved, in my opinion. However, we do get better playing, singing, mixing, producing, as we spend more time at it. All one has to do is go back and listen to some of ones older tunes. One of these days, I may record the lead vocal tracks over to improve the tune.

Which one's Pink?  :)   Holy cow, nice tune. The low end sounds nice and full, but not muddy, I can hear kick, bass, and a low guitar. I would bring out the vocals a little louder, just a bit. Can't catch the words all the time, and your vocals aren't too shabby!  I'd say this sounds like it was mixed by the drummer or the guitar player. :0 but they have good chops.

    cheers,
    -Tom

I would rather record the lead vocals all over from scratch than just turning them up. I have improved quite a bit since I sang that tune. I have also learned quite a bit about tracking, compression, limiting, as well. Therefore, my plugin chain would be a lot different, as well.

    Glad you liked the tune:)
