New Ableton Book
https://makingmusic.ableton.com/It looks really good, I ordered it as soon as they announced it. I went through everything they have online, great stuff. It's already sold out but they'll probably make more. Did anyone else order a copy?

Hi, I had a real hard time using Abelton, and even took a class in Portland one night at Portland Music ... only problem was, that they wanted to teach the folks how to be a DJ ... and the rest was ignored and not mentioned at all. I was not interested in the DJ thing at all ... it wasn't a waste of money, but it didn't help a whole lot. I'm still an ignoranimous and even though I got Sonar, I'm even more fractured and lost! And I still can not make IKT Philharmonic do two things together. It's become a total bummer! My hopes for having someone show me a thing or two ... are long gone.
Music is not about notes and chords! My poem is not about the computer or monitor or letters! It's about how I was able to translate it from my insides!

I wasn't able to help because I actually know nothing about it, however, I AM the one he continually refers to as not helping.

You WISH that was the case, but it isn't. There are some folks here that have offered to help. It just so happens that the two comedians just aren't that funny to me, and while I do not think you guys are "bad" ... in any way, shape or form ... all you did is help a person put the whole thing aside ... it felt like telling your kid to get lost, I don't want you to do music! Music is bad for you kid! I do not know, if I would ever want to hurt my child with something like that! You are who you are. and this is not about Craig not being helpful. You are fine. I get it ... I have to learn this on my own, something I always say ... so stop thinking that this is about you or Bapu ... it isn't! It's just strange ... the person with a 1000 ideas, can't share any of them ... the person with a 1000 notes and chords, can't expand on it all ... I like the irony of it all! And a new Lamb will be born on Broadway!

It wasn't intended as such. It was more a friendly and honest gesture of humility, and it was simply ignored and fingered out! Btw, when I managed the King's Table for 7 years, in Pendleton, over the 3 years, I hired two cooks from McDonald's and they were still there when I left for Vancouver. Btw ... they not only KNEW how to cook hamburgers, they never burnt anything else on my watch!

Even I've noticed that you tend to "shoehorn" this complaint into posts in a passive aggressive way. Might be time to just let it go. People don't mind helping others out on the forum at the own time and pace, but one on one help is something entirely different. Not everyone has the time for something like that. I had almost the exact thing years ago when a friend wanted me to give her some guitar lessons. I politely refused, because I'm not much of a teacher and I didn't have the time. But she did the same thing, taking every opportunity when in my presence to tell others that she would love to learn guitar but that nobody seemed interested in giving her lessons, in a "nod nod, wink wink" kind of way. And of course when I said something along the lines of "okay we get the point, don't flog it," she insinuated that I was kind of big headed to suppose that she was talking about me. It's kind of infuriating

That is sooooooooooo not me, it's almost ridiculous. They can joke and post funnies, but when they are also included in the jokes and funnies, they can't take it ... maybe you should direct your words both ways ... not just me! Bapu, at the very least, and thank you, does not say much and if he does he will just not bother ... and I actually have some respect for that, not to mention that if I had an album to put out, Bapu would get the first 20G's to get it going! AND get paid more than anyone else!

I picked it up - that is, the Kindle version for 10 bucks. To begin with, it is absolutely DAW neutral. In fact, it doesn't get much into techniques (like how to optimally use a compressor, for example). It's more about attitude, organization and efficient work habits. I don't know how many pages the printed book is, but at 30 bucks, it seems a bit pricey. I got about 20% of the way through the ebook in just about an hour, so it's not all that long. So far, I would not hesitate to recommend it for a ten buck investment. I expect I'll be writing a full review for the July issue of SoundBytes. In the meantime, the worst that can happen if you buy the ebook is that you're only be out ten dollars. I believe they have a few chapters accessible for free on-line to help anyone make up their mind.
