New BitBridge and jBridge support - THANK YOU, CAKEWALK!

Now that I've finally got my hands on S8.5, I'm glad to admit that at least the topic subject was worth the upgrade for me.
Sonnox now works in S8.5 (Limiter is so sweet on electornic music - so glad)
Waves now works in S8.5 (the PAZ Analyzer I missed so much is finally alive)
PSP Nitro now works in S8.5
NomadFactory that failed to initialize during VST scan now works in S8.5
and even those that still fail can be launched with jBridge SO easily!!!
I'm really impressed by that single feature of S8.5
Cakewalk, why thank you!!!!
Now I just hope the 8.5.2 will arrive soon to fix those little issues here and there... and yes, we're still waiting for the Bus/Synth Automation copy bug fixes LOL ^^ (though their behaviour seems to be a bit more predictive in this version)

    Hey Elle,

You've probably already noticed this, but Bitbrdige 2.0 is way more stable than ever! (and I'm not just talking about the improved compatibility).  I remember that Bitbridge 1.0 would give me all sorts of stability issues when loading huge amounts of RAM.  I tested this again with Bitbridge 2.0 and was able to max out on my system RAM (a little over 7GB loaded on my machine - signature below).  Before, when I did this (with a much lower RAM amount of course, my CPU would be really high.  This time around it was below 20%.  I was soooo impressed, I wanted to kiss Noel.....huh...I meant hug him....(cough, cough).

I also try to get the engine to motorboat by rapidly changing the playback state of the project and everything ran smooth as butter.  This shows that they really did made more improvements to the audio engine on top of the BIG improvements made to Bitbridge 2.0.  Just hope they keep at it cause, so far, I'm loving it.

    Take care!

    Hey guys,

will Bitbridge 2.0 allow me to use old 32 bit kompakt libraries under a 64 bit OS and use all my systems ram?

Well, in that test that I mentioned above, I was using the EWQLSO XP Gold Kompakt Player (4 instances fully loaded -  I could've load more by the way).  It works fine but my problem with it is with it's polyphony.  It was most likely due to me not being able to configure it properly, but I heard some notes getting cut off.  I also have Kontakt 2 which has better controls over polyphony, but I haven't installed it yet on this machine.  I'll have to test that again.

But basically, the Kompakt player works fine with Bitbridge 2.0.  It actually works better now then it did with Bitbridge 1.  It is more stable and lets me load all my RAM no problem.  Just need to configure it better.  If you know how to do this then I'd appreciate the help :-)

Jose, would upping the latency on your RME help at all? since I've never used Kompakt (I only use Kontakt 3), are there settings you can alter.. I mean I use a lot of NI stuff , and when I started that was the first thing I did.. or of course run things in economy mode.

I'm just curious if you can load the sounds into the new version free version of Kontakt also.

Upping the latency on my RME won't help with RAM, only CPU usage.  I need to mess around with the DFD settings, which are kinda limited in the Kompakt Player.  There's much more control over polyphony in the Kontakt engine, that's for sure.  I haven't tried the free Kontakt Player yet and, even if I did, it would let me test memory usage on Bitbridge since it is a 64 bit version, no?

Anyways, I'll keep test it it out to see how to up my polyphony.  That's the only problem I'm encountering right now and I think it'll be better once I install Kontakt on my system.  I'll also try the free Kontakt player, but after testing Bitbridge 2.0 some more.

There's really no point in doing that now.  Most plugin developers are getting on track with 64 bit.

A year or two from now and we won't need Bitbridge or JBridge as much.  Just for legacy stuff.

    Good news. Jose!

When that thread was started about jbridge being released, before 8.5 came out, Noel saw the thread. I'm glad he saw some of us interested in using jbridge, and decided to implement an acommadation for it in 8.5. Also, the audio engine improvements starting with SONAR 8 are very impressive! And you say it seems like there are more improvements under the hood in 8.5.  Noel, is a great guy. Really competent at his job, and a easily likable person!

I'm looking forward to seeing what 8.5 will be like for me. I don't have it yet. I'm making the purchase Thursady October 1. And I will be upgrading my DAW next month as well. Next month will be a pleasant month for me.

    Hey Thomas!

Yeah, the integration of JBridge into Sonar was a real nice touch by the Cakewalk developers.  It makes things so convenient and also extend compatibility with 3rd party 32 bit plugs.  I  personally like the JBridge look better, but can't trade that with the ability to use multiple Bitbridge servers (I mean, come on!).  That is just one of the things a few of us 64 bit users have asked since version 7, and now we got it!

As far as the audio engine in Sonar 8.5, it's not very difference from 8.3, but it is a little bit snappier.  I tested this with one of my heavier projects jumping from one place to another very quickly and randonmly.  It was a little bit smoother in 8.5.  I'm sure people will experience even better performance once Windows 7 is out.  By the way, don't forget to chime in and let us know about your experiences once you upgrade to Sonar 8.5.  I'd like to hear it even if it is negative (hopefully not though :-P).

Roger that, Jose. I will share my experience after I get running with 8.5.

I've just been hearing about the multiple BitBridge servers the last few days.

I'll be looking into the benefit of the feature once I'm up and running 8.5. Thanks for the info.

    Yeah, I hear ya Rosabelle.

All we can do is feature request it to be ported to native 64 bit.  I created a thread for that same purpose a while ago:

You don't need to create any DLLs with .64 suffix
You don't need to create any txt files either.
Finally, you don't have to launch jBridger.
All you need to do to have the plug-in jBridged is
    - open the cakewalk plug-in manager,
    - select the VST/VSTi plug-in you want to be jBridged and
    - click the Plug-in Properties button. Here you just tick 'Load using jBridge wrapper' checkbox.

I'm curious about this too. Dexter, if I remember correctly it's just that Altiverb wouldn't run under Windows 7 64 bit/Sonar 64 bit. I may be wrong about that, but I seem to remember that. Someone correct me if I am....

Yes even if there are small bugs in SONAR 8.5.1 64bit, everything work like a dream!
Even Melodynebridge works now with the new bitbridge 2.0 if you use DX-wrapper version.

If you really need to use your 32bit DX/i plugins in Sonar 64 bit, there's a way ( or at least that's one of the ways ):

    http://www.kvraudio.com/f../viewtopic.php?t=177538

Wrap you DX/i effect in a  VST *.dll with polac's vsti/dxi/mfx wrapper and then bridge it.

I tested this with DreamStation DXi a while ago for curiosity, and it worked great, don't know how it will work with other plugins though, but it was interesting to know that it can work.

If you really need to use your 32bit DX/i plugins in Sonar 64 bit, there's a way ( or at least that's one of the ways ):

    http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=177538

Wrap you DX/i effect in a  VST *.dll with polac's vsti/dxi/mfx wrapper and then bridge it.

I tested this with DreamStation DXi a while ago for curiosity, and it worked great, don't know how it will work with other plugins though, but it was interesting to know that it can work.

    That's the one I use! =)
Working great and its free too

Here is Polac-main site, Press "More downloads"

Do you download the demo version of jBridge or do you get a link to download the non-demo version when he receives payment? I paid just a minute or two ago via PayPal, but don't know where to download other than the demo links...

You should recieve a full copy of JBridge on your email account.  It might take a while though.

I have tried the jBridge tool. work fine but still not with all plugins like Melodyne Plugin. At least I have no success?
I haven't bought it because 99% works with SONAR bitbridge in 8.5.1 and almost 95 % of all my plugins I use is already in Native 64bit.

So I'm curious, can someone give me an example that makes it better to use jBridge? What is the benefits with jBridge VS SONAR if it works with both bitbridge? Omnsiphere work with SONAR bitbridge...as example, work with jBridge too. Perhaps thinking on bridge my Nomad Factory blue-series...with jBridge instead if that works now? It does work with SONAR bitbridge now in SONAR 8.5.1.

The only bad thing with SONAR bitbridge is that, some graphic elements from the bridge-plugin goes behind the Bridgeplugin, like "SAVE"-splash "OK"-splash and so on...

Yeah, that gets annoying.  The solution is to right-click on the hidden window's minimized form (the one found on the Task bar) and select "Move".  This will bring the mouse pointer on top of the title bar of said window so you can move it out of the way.

Yes, I know, but great tip though, thanks! =)

I point all this out for Noel! I hope he tries to fix this with SONAR bitbridge that it work as normal plugin.
Can't you please submit that tip in the Did you know.... thread, please
    that would be great Jose!
