New Cakewalk user

I recently just received Cakewalk Music Creator 4 and im having some trouble recording sounds. I play guitar and I'm using the BOSS GT-10 effects processor which has a USB out. I can figure out how to set up the input in Cakewalk to be the GT-10 and how to arm a track for recording. When I start recording it shows that sound is being recorded but when I stop the recording instead of it saving, it just erases and starts back at the beginning. I'm sure its something simple but I can't figure it out for the life of me.

Welcome to the forum. Some others have experienced this in the past, I'll have to try to remember who it was and what resolved the problem, or maybe someone else will remember before me.
First, go to 'Options>Global' and uncheck the box to "On Stop, Rewind to Start", or something like that, if it is checked. I'll be back after I get a beer to jump start my brain.
    Anyone else got anything?

When you say that "it shows that sound is being recorded" do you mean you see a waveform being drawn? Or is it just the track meter showing signal?

Both, the track meter is showing a signal corresponding to the inputs I'm making and the waveform is being drawn.

Yeah, this has happened before to a few people. A search of 'Rewind' didn't help and neither did the beer, yet.
I can't remember if you need to re-install, or do the AUD INI thing.
While we're waiting for someone with a better memory, can you post your computer specs, Troy? Speed, RAM, operating system, and sound card.
Try importing something audio from your 'My Music' and see if it renders to the track and plays.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 5200+ 2.61 GHz, Windows xp Media Center Edition, @.00 GB of RAM, SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio.

I got a song to import and it shows the waveform of the song out in the track but when I click the play button nothing happens.

Try changing your audio drivers. The default drivers aren't always the right ones. Switch to the MM...whatever drivers.... Man...talk about a bad memory.... well I don't use them I'm using ASIO... and I know it's probably not that one either for you..... especially if you're using the factory card.

Come on y'all... I'm dying here...tell him what drivers to try....

MME? Also make sure your sound card is selected in 'Options>Audio>General>Playback and Record Timing Master'.

    O.K.
It sounds like you are using the BOSS GT-10 as your input source... ( I guess analagous to a USB mike for capturing analog signal as opposed to a USB keyboard for capturing midi signals ).

I can figure out how to set up the input in Cakewalk to be the GT-10 and how to arm a track for recording.
So does this mean that you can hear your guitar inside of MC4 ? If so then you should be able to record it. Otherwise, I'm guessing that you don't have the BOSS GT-10 set up correctly as your source. I don't know but it would appear that from ( AMD Athlon 64 ) that your O.S. is Vista 64 bit???? if so do you have a 64-bit driver for the BOSS Gt-10?

I hope these questions help get the ball rolling ...

When I started it up today it a screen popped up saying the following drivers don't support the audio format.

Success! I got it to record and save and playback. The only problem now is I don't have an option to select my sound card in the Audio menu. The only thing I can select is the BOSS GT-10 as my output driver. So anything I record and playback gets sent right back through the GT-10, which doubles up on the effects set on the GT-10, and then sent to my amp.

as tap says above - you are using the GT-10 as a soundcard when you connect it up using USB. if you want to prevent that, you need to unplug the GT-10 from the USB port and plug the analog outputs of the GT-10 (assuming it has analog outputs) into your onboard soundcard and select it as your input in MC.
