New Clip. Sorta Proggy and Sorta Heavy.
My usual setup - IBZ RG7620/1527 --> Voodoo Amps modded Marshall --> Marshall style Mojo 4x12 w/Hellatone 60Ls --> e906/sm57/e609 --> Mackie 1620i --> Sonar 8.5. I'm on guitar, bass, and keys and programmed the strings (Dim Pro). My brother is on drums... http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=13156221 EDIT - The song is called "Dead Red." FWIW - It's NOT about killing 'commies'...it's about a good fastball hitter. LOL

Very good chops, mix and composition Pete......I'm impressed with your talent. Enjoyed this on my H-phones.....if anything at all, the bass came across a little muddy and possibly could use a bit more clarity.....it certainly didn't take anything away from the overall performance. Thanks for sharing!!

As stated by Mesh "good chops, mix and composition Pete" though I am not hearing any muddiness in the bass on the Adams. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, this is something I can identify with. Really good stuff... Loved the neo-classical-ish lines and the way they're shared out along the way. Your playing is really clean but the tones are crisp and crunchy - a great combo. Everything else layers in nicely too. Mix-wise I think the drums could use a little more presence just to better match up with the great wall of sound you've laid down with the guitars (I would not want to change that!). Nice!

Thanks. Yes, I think the drums are a tad buried during the 12/8 parts because there is just so much going on there. They seem ok to me during when all the strings drop out and it's just drums, guitars, and bass. Thanks for listening. jamesg1213 Yes, nice one, good arrangement, very dramatic and excellent playing.
Thanks. I appreciate that.

Peter, Cool tune, definitely sorta guitar instrumental proggy and heavy. Nice playing and fun to listen. The mix sounded good on my system. No real crits from this camp. Nice job!

Nicely done. My only crit would be to bring the original melody in more during the middle to keep the listener attentive. What you're doing is really good but you only brought the original melody back at the end. Great playing!!!

Thanks man. I hear you about bringing in the melody earlier...and I do that pretty often, but sometimes I try to stray from my usual formula.

Yes, drums were recorded...old school. Kick was replaced. The hats were creeping in through the snare mic (even with a gate on there) so the meaty/lower frequencies of the snare is the original and the higher frequencies are from a sample. Thanks for listening.

Great stuff! The drums could use a little more EQ treatment to make them better heard without being overpowering. The snare is too loud in spots, and the toms are almost non-existent. You've got a good drummer there, but this was definitely mixed by the guitar player, lol. Bass could use a little more definition, but I'd actually suggest doing that on a parallel track so you don't lose anything on what's already there.
Mixing is all about control. Have head, will bang. Really fun guitar work all the way through. I listened on headphones and I'd agree the bass could use a frequency lowered . whatever your kick replacement wants to shine on, I'd notch that same frequency out of the bass, just a few dbs. Just a thought. really cool guitar chops, man. -Tom
