New Computer

Hey guys...have a question.
I have a new computer and loaded MC3 into the new computer, moved the projects and VST files etc...
But, the SF2 files are no longer attached to the "work".
Example:
When I go to Synth Rack...VST is listed
The SF2 files are shown in the folder
But when I go to a previous saved song file the SF2 soundfont are no longer attached to that work.

Is there a way that I was supposed to do this correctly??

Thanks,

Hans

    Beagle,

Yep...the soundfonts linked to a song/track did not transfer over to the new computer

    Let me try this:
I open a composed song go into track view and my output states that the soundfont is sfz 1
If I go into insert DXI synth...VST...sfz the synth options dialog box opens
Go to the synth rack view...sfz1 is listed
double click the sfz1 and the individual RGC: audio SFZ rack dialog box opens...but no soundfont attached
I can go into the file dialog section and select a soundfont and it will play....
Here is my issue I have 40+ hymns and songs that I would have to "reassign" the sondfonts!

    Oh dear! Not fun!

    Have any clues??

    Thanks!

One of those things I have been trying to remember to do, for each song, for each track, make notes of the plug in, effect, etc., the settings on each, the eq settings, the reverb settings, the volume, pan everything should be written down. If we were working in a studio situation, every little adjustment or setting would be logged, even if you had to move a slider up or down in mid track. It all seems to be such a pain until a situation like this arises. Some other sites, people talk about external programs to "sticky note" their tracks as they go. 'Course, hindsight is 20/20. Maybe as you recover these files you might consider making notes?

Sound fonts are kept in a folder on your computer, if you installed MC on a new computer did you transfer the folder with the sound fonts there as well? If you want the sound font to stay with the song file you have to copy the font to that folder as well. of it just streams it from the sound font folder.

Illustrate it this way, if you had a guitar and an amp in the bedroom, and you disconnected the guitar and walked into the living room in order to hear the guitar loud you would need to bring the amp and reconnected it. in the same token, you need to "bring" the sound font folder on to this computer and tell MC where it is.

As i said above anything you want to be a part of a song file must be either on the computer and the song file must know where it is or copy it to the song file and access it there.

I'd Seize the day but i can't quite reach it!

I really don't know Hans. I'm sure there's some file somewhere that keeps track of it but I couldn't tell you where or what it might look like. Sorry I'm not any more help.
