New Delta Driver problem

Hi,

I have what I think people refer to as a zipper problem with the WDM driver. If I am playing and hit stop, there is a stutter. Sonar also crashes about once per hour with "errors" whereas it didn't before.

I switched to the ASIO driver and the "zipper" problem went away. Not sure if it will still crash.

Here's something I didn't know - when using the ASIO driver there is no profiler button - that button is renamed "ASIO panel" and takes me to the normal Delta panel. The latency slider is also disabled as is the playback buffer queue setting.

Hmmm...
Adam.

With ASIO, your latency is set/determined by the DMA setting.

    Steven,

Could you talk more about this? I'm trying to understand the different drivers on my 2496; benifits and weaknesses of each.

For most of us with delta series sound cards the WDM drivers work best. There isn't much else you need to know (or maybe I'm not the best person to ask).

I've always used the WDM drivers (.27's to be exact). Tried ASIO just for grins once and couldn't figure out the settings under audio.

So back to WDM I went.

    Not much to understand IMO...

In ASIO mode, hit the ASIO panel button and change the buffer size in the Delta Control Panel. Hit OK to go back to sonar and clear the audio options dialog. Re-opend the audio options and your new latency will be displayed. No need to profile ever.

I've found ASIO to work better with low latency input monitoring on my Delta 1010. YMMV

I concur. We just installed 3 24/192's with the .48 drivers and they work flawlessly at all bit/sample rates. And this is on Dell 1.8 P4's with Soundmax onboard sound!

    Kind regards,

You might want to try an older driver version to see if that fixes the problem. Also, does it happen at all latencies and buffer settings?

No problems with either ASIO or WDM here. Just started using the 66. The only drivers I've ever had on my machine are the new ones. If that makes any difference..........................JDW
