That sounds like it's to do with either a missing DirectX synth or effect. Have you tried running Sonar in safe mode? Press and hold shift while double-clicking the program icon.

Mick, I've done some more research into this and it appears that the problem is to do with a missing file in your windows\system32 folder (an important folder on the C:\ drive which stores WIndows system files and drivers). The easiest way to rectify this would be to reinstall Sonar. I'm not in my studio now so can't verify this, but I'm sure you can do something called a repair install which will reinstall Sonar's files without touching your projects, plugins etc.

so if you have??go back and remove it and see if that fixes it.this same thing drove me loops one time..once you remove the new file you put in for scaning try to boot..if all is well than we can trouble shoot your non support problem..sounds like steve is helping you and he is some what on the right track..though a total re install is not nessesary..BUT!!!...ive been wrong before...lol..but not many times,

Do you mean uninstall Sonar then reinstall again? Mick

I've just done a complete reinstall onto my C drive. Previously had everything on an external drive but had advice to move it all (reinstall). Will let you know what happens. Thanks Mick
