New Feature Idea for a Live Mode Cakewalk
Keyboard mappings and the ability to control multiple instruments and effects from 1 vst control map.
Keyboard input mapping
For example. I have an MPD18, Remote SL, and Motif ES8. I could pull up a track mapper that would allow me to assign controller inputs and note ranges to each track.
Set instrument 1 to recieve notes from the MPD18
Set instrument 2 to recieve C0 - B3 from the Motif ES8
Set instrument 3 to recieve C3 - B4 from the Motif
Set instrument 4 to recieve C5 - C6 from the Motif
Set instrument 5 to recieve C1 - C3 from the Remote SL61
Set instrument 6 to recieve C4 - C5 from the Remote
Turn on echo for all instruments and be able to play all instruments from the 3 controllers all by software settings
VST control group
Ill use the remote as an example because I understand it best but this should be able to work with anything.
Create a VST with a customizable layout that maps to 1 or more underlying vst instruments or effects. The VST would have templates like the pots buttons and fadders from the remote sl. you would then load your own effects chain into the VST and map key parameters to the VST control group. Then I could save the entire layout as a VST that would be selectable like any other single VST. But when I load it I would get seperate EQ, Compressor, Reverb, Delay, tube saturator etc... all controllable from one VST instance on the Remote.
One could also create a mapping that controls key parameters from multiple softsynths. So from one vst I could trigger a sample in beatstation and control the cutoff in Pro53 and manipulate NI's The Finger on a vocal track.
If this doesnt sound like a great idea I havent explained it right.
