There must be a point where the latency of the computer/daw comes into the picture ? Is that below 1ms so as to still not matter even with a really fast interface ?

No RedNET hype on this thing? I dont have thunderbolt so I'll probably get a Focusrite Forte instead.

I guess you just need a PCIe Thunderbolt 2 card ? About 150$. There may be more to it than that, this is new tech to me.

HP includes Thunderbolt on all Z series workstations and laptops. It's not included on the consumer grade products, which HP is currently in the process of splitting into two companies, one for consumer products, the other for enterprise customers. I'm not sure where the Z series stuff will end up. ASUS is another PC vendor that offers products with thunderbolt. If it's a desktop you can always add a card, as mentioned.

The most popular one seems to be made by HP. Maybe the same as in their Z stations ?

You may want to confirm if PC has a Thunderbolt header/connector first needed for TB cards.

Saw these are coming, not available yet, maybe by May/June, I'm looking at MOTU 8M, with Thunderbolt, USB and Ethernet I/O's, I'm not sure what their preamps are like, anyone know and also any interfacing issues with SONAR?

Supposedly the preamps are the ISA ones that they have been using in their other series of I/O's. My ASRock Z97 Anniversary doesn't support FW nor TB, but I have yet to look for TB PCIe cards. $150 doesn't sound terrible. I wonder how much the Clarett's street for? Michael

I believe the 8 preamp ones will be $ 1000 - 1600, but not available until June.

That is in my "Newegg saved list". (the out of stock one) Thanks cclarry. Too bad I don't have an ASUS mobo! Michael

Right, I was referring to my mobo. I have even considered swapping it out. I'd forgotten about the ASRock card, so that was a good reminder. Thanks The whole Thunderbolt on PC with Sonar "wave" seems like it has move that way more all the time. But maybe usb3.1 seems more manageable, somehow. I am plotting a new I/O and have even thought the Saffire Pro 26 might be a good "biding my time" while the TB2 thing plays out. Then too, the Tascam us16X08 and Arturia AudioFuse are heading towards us. It would be nice to get great conversion, great preamps, 2 headphones with volume controls, and of course, have latency be a non-issue. Michael
