There is a consistent one second delay when arming or disarming audio tracks: excellent, and well done on the part of Focusrite.

Installed the 2.4.1 beta drivers yesterday morning. Did a few hours of recording/mixing last night in Sonar X1e. So far everything is working in a reliable, consistent manner.

I had put in a tech ticket with Focusrite about the issues, but never received a reply via email about the updated software. I just happen to find it when I went there on one of my regular visits.

Since there is no letter B in the version, I am assuming this is a ready for prime time release,,

I tried the new beta with my Saffire Pro 40.  My Pro 40 has a dropout problem after it heats up, but  I'm getting dropouts on playback while "cold" with the new beta version.

I've tried different buffer settings and have it on 512 but still getting some type of dropout.  Sonar doesn't display a dropout, it just stops and I can press the space bar and it will continue playback from where it stopped.

Man, with the problems I read related to the Focurite drivers, I wont be recommending their audio interfaces to anyone.

They need to get these issues fixed.

I notice that you deem it necessary to slam Focusrite's drivers every chance you get, even doing so in a thread which indicates Focusrite has addressed the only known issue with the SP40 drivers. I'm curious as to what your motives are.

More often than not, the first sign of trouble in a DAW is blamed on the audio card or its drivers, but in truth is rarely the case, so you should take what you read on the internet with a large grain of salt.

I performed a stress test on my pc last night with the SP40 activated, and it performed with flying colors, as did the drivers.

I have no sinister motive. I have just been reading about problems with the Focusrite audio interfaces, a lot lately.

If you like Focusrite, and your unit works sastisfactorily for you, I'm glad for you, but I've been seeing a number of users post problems with their unit and SONAR, and as you say, Focusrite is attempting to address the issues, and the fact that they are addressing the issues, says to me the problem is with their drivers.

I like to have a variety of audio interfaces I can recommend to users when they come here asking for recommendations. Focusrire is one brand I would not recommend because of the user reports here. Sorry if that disturbs you, but I wish you the best with you and your experience with your Focusrire product.

And just to show you that I don't have any sinister agenda in mind when I chime into these Focusrite threads, I'll not chime in again unless I have some problem solving helpful info. I'll just follow to see what progress is being made, if any.

"I've been seeing a number of users post problems with their unit and SONAR" good point but as usual only the posters with problems get a hearing-initially i had all sorts of problems(and posted here) before sending my interface to the pc builder who configured and benchtested it and also said it was a pain in the arse to setup-whuch is not surprising as it`s marketed as "pro" software-i`m still on 2.1 and have none of the problems the fix addresses and am not game to fix something that aint broke but then it seems i`m the only engineer in the world using a Liquid 56 and Sonar-sometimes i think i`ve bought the Saab of daw`s-oh well-works for me cheers

My particular problem is not a "Sonar Problem".  I tried the Saffire Pro 40 with Cubase 5 LE and Reaper and get them on those too.  I've got Pro Tools but it's the MP9 version which only works with Avid/MAudio devices so I can't test it with that.

I don't have any other Firewire device so I can't verify that the T.I. chipset in my Intel motherboard is not the problem.  I've tried both the Legacy (what I'm using) and the native Win 7 Firewire driver and it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Thanks for posting this! I just bought a 2nd pro40 and am looking forward to double the I/O's!

For reference- I have very few problems with the pro40 on win 7 pro 64-bit with Sonar producer 8.5.3- I DO keep the latency very high most of the time with large projects though. Also, I did all the win 7 tweaks in the world and raised my drop-out time in aud.ini to 1000ms. If you have problems, call Focusrite- after some waitin' they'll help you! They suggested that I disable my internet LAN device and my onboard soundcard- both of which seemed unnecessary at the time but once checking with the DPC latency checker, that made a big difference.

Win7 Pro 64 bit sp1, i7-960 Intel processor, 8 gig RAM, SSD 64gig boot drive, Samsung F3 1TB D drive, nVidia Quadro 600 video card, Gigabyte X58A mobo, LG Blu-ray drive, 500 Gig E, F Drives, dual-monitors: 26" each, 2 X Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 ASIO hardware I/O's, Tascam US-428 control surface, Sonar 8.5.3 and X1 Producer, Avid Media Composer 5.0.4, Vintage 42-input Amek console, much outboard analog audio gear, acoustic world instruments, and noise toys!

I bought a pro40 recently. I can say: it works very well (using 2.4)and has a wonderful "tone". I sold my longtime machine yammy o1x last month (sigh), because it's "too old" for W7. But with Focusrite's sp40 i have the feeling that i made the right decision. And.... thank you Musicman100 for finding the new driver. All the best for 2012 to all of you sonarists! Mike
