This is not part of the platinum subscription?

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

Sorry, let me clarify. The EB-5 instrument that is included in this pack will be updated. You won't get the entire collection. That will happen soon and will be in your account.

So the question still stands..

Will existing owners of the EB-5 pack get a discount on this collection, as they already have 1/3 of the content?

Ah... oh well. So, and I guess this is a question Craig can answer if hes watching, what will be updated in our current version? I'm guessing something to do with the formats the samples are in? Or maybe some more controls over the sounds?

No rush on an answer. Just curious.

And yeah... as Karyn asked, will us previous owners get a discount?

Cheers!

Edit: I should have read the info first...

EB 5-String Bass: This major update to the original EB 5 pack for Dimension Pro features a smaller memory footprint, faster loading, keyswitched attacks, and takes full advantage of Rapture Pro / Rapture Session’s Instrument page controls. The EB 5-string bass provides eight unique sound combinations from two pickups thanks to Gibson’s Tuned Coil Tap pickup technology, and represents the sweet spot of low end, definition, versatility, and warmth. This pack truly captures the EB 5’s “tuned thunder” to create a keyboard bass drenched with the EB 5’s organic sound quality.

Specifications:
  • 416 mono samples (292 MB), FLAC format
  • Resolution: 44.1 kHz, 24-bit
  • Programs: 16 (two per pickup combination: pick keyswitchable to thumb attack, and thumb attack keyswitchable to short decay)
  • Compatibility: Rapture Pro, Rapture Session
  • Instrument Page controls: Bass Tone, Treble Tone, 10-String (synthesizes octave above string), wavetable Suboctave, TouchFilter, Growl (amp-like distortion), Chorus Rate, Chorus Depth, X/Y Pad 1 (LFO depth and frequency), X/Y Pad 2 (10-String and Suboctave distortion)
  • Special features: Open string up and up/down slides, FX sends for tempo-synched delay and LFO filter

Yeah,ok. Still love you all, CW.

Anyway, upgrade price make sense since we already own some chunk of the pack.

Re: New Gibson Bass Collection Expansion Pack now available 2016/01/22 11:07:54 (permalink)
After watching the vid and semi sorta figuring out what all that techno jibber is the free update to just the older Eb5 package is really quite a bit (if I'm understanding correctly).

Essentially we get the extra "slide" articulations, string plucking that can be changed while playing (pick/thumb/finger whereas before I think we had to choose either fingered or picked and stick with it) and the effects (octave, 10string, chorus, etc...). It loads in Rap Session instead of DP... but I wonder if it will still load in DP or the old Rapture (and retain functionality... probably not).

I have not tried RapSession yet so this would be my excuse.

The only things missing I guess would be the Midtown and LesPaul sounds which isn't a huge loss because the Eb5 bass covers most of my needs anyway.

Yeah... pretty good free surprise upgrade, if that is indeed what's going on.

Apparently Craig has done Thunderbird for Rapture Pro. Craig ones mentioned it is on his list to go to Gibson vaults, take any Thunderbird he likes and make it available for other synths too.

Well, that didn't work. I purchased the EB-5 expansion pack for Dim Pro last September (Reference No.: 79571284). All I got from the Store when I tried to add the coupon was the following error message:

Maybe the discount code won't work until they release the update for EB5 users?

I'm kind of thinking they might have only conjured this discount up due to this thread... which is appreciated.

Like maybe Cleverbridge needs some time to process the new data or sumthin'.

Just guessing

PS: When you get it installed a review would be cool. Not sure about the LP one but the Midtown seems like something I'd use extensively as an alt to the EB5.

I just tried it and it worked. It brought the price down to $33.47. Make sure you copied the code exactly:

EB5BASS

Also, make sure you apply it to this product:

I clicked on your link (which took me to the same page I tried to buy from before), added the expansion to the cart, copied and pasted the code (EB5BASS; which I just added by pasting, not by typing, so you can see what I entered), clicked on the '+' to add it...and got the same error as before.

Is the store not recognizing my existing license for EB-5?

I used FoxFire 43.0.4. The store took the EB5BASS coupon code and shows the discounted price. I do not see a way to remove a coupon code though.

No need to post any image here. CW knows what you have purchased. Since I cannot remove the code from my view of the store, I only have the ability to test the code one time. I am sure they will get the price corrected for you, one way or another.

Well, I received a notification when I started up SONAR this morning, telling me that the Gibson Bass Expansion pack was available. So, I tried again.

Success! Perhaps whatever triggered the notification also cleared up my problem. Purchased and installed via CCC. Works jimdandy in Rapture Pro. Happy to have!!!

Notified Andrew that all is good in Bassland.

Much appreciated! I think you'll find the pack optimizes electric bass for keyboard bass, which is a somewhat different approach than other sampled instruments.

As to the EB5 changes, the main differences are using FLAC instead of WAV to reduce loading time and memory footprint, but more importantly, accessing Rapture's 12 instrument page controls. It took a huge amount of time to tie these controls into strategic parameters within Rapture Pro/Session. If you have a keyboard with knobs like Akai's Advance 49, those eight knobs provide some pretty cool real-time options.

One lesson I learned from doing this pack is how basses can sound so different from each other. The Les Paul Standard and Midtown basses are very different from each other, as well as the EB5. If I had to summarize the differences...

  • LP Standard Bass - dark, powerful
  • Midtown - bright but rounded/deep, somewhat Rick-like
  • EB5 - snap/definition from the swamp ash body, versatility from the pickup switching

The first 3 books in "The Musician's Guide to Home Recording" series are available from Hal Leonard and http://www.reverb.com. Listen to my music on http://www.YouTube.com/thecraiganderton, and visit http://www.craiganderton.com. Thanks!
