New Harddrive - What To Look For?

I need to get a new harddrive for my samples. I'm thinking I need a 1 TB drive in addition to the one I have now.

What should I look for? I'm sure I need a 7200 rpm drive, but what about cache? 32 MB or 64 - does it matter that much?

Western, Seagate... etc?

    32 or 64 meg cache.
normally i say seagate (for 1.5 tb or lower) but the WD 64meg (2TB) are slightly faster than the 64meg Seagate (very minor)
    and they are more $

How much of a difference is there between 32 and 64 mb cache?

    depends on use.
for recording to not a lot, for samples it seems to help.
it would also help in playback of long play (live) or in a heavy project where you want to punch in zoom to track etc.

How much of a difference is it, or what kind of difference is it? The local store happen to have drives with only 32 MB cache (I'll be using it for sound libraries).

Giannis: try here. Stay away from the "green" ones, though.

What's wrong with the "green" ones?

I could buy them online, but I thought I needed some help with all the cables and so on. I opened up the box and I seemed kind of tight, well..
