New Instrumental - I hope you like!

Brand spankin new instrumental called Durango. Inspired by
a motorcycle trip which included a really nice 2 day stop in
Durango Colorado.

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/4/tobybrezmusic.htm

I would really love to know how you feel about the composition
itself. Any thoughts on how to classify this would also be appreciated.

Also, I'm experimenting with a new mastering process and would love to know
how you feel about the mix.

Thanks so much in advance,
Toby

Very nice. Great composition. Very good arrangement. Great melody. Makes me, for some reason, feel like I'm watching a summer sunset.

Nice use of different textures and sounds. Recording is top notch.

Love the triplet bit at the end. Nice changeup.

    Outstanding A++++

Well done. Nicely balanced piece. I can hear a number of different instruments, which blend well and create an effect that's greater than the sum of the parts.

I wouldn't really classify it as an "acoustic guitar" piece, though. The guitar is just one of many instruments (as it should be in this genre), and it's not necessarily predominant.
If that's actually acoustic guitar you're playing then you're quite talented...

The only part I didn't particularly like was toward the end (3:08-3:17). The rhythm
kind of gets botched when you slow down. To me it sounds artificial -- makes me think I'm listening to vinyl and someone just came into my room and put their hands down on the platter, trying to get my attention. But I do like the echoey/fluttery section from 3:17 to the end...

    Keep up the good work.

    Hey Rolo,

Thanks a lot for listening and commenting!
The main synth part is NI FM7, can't recall the name of the patch
but I did just a little velocity tweak, other than that, it's stock.

what i think its that it miss bottom end
need some bass... synth bass or some that fill
    the bass section...

Yeah, there isn't really a bass part. The FM7 patch contains
the low end. I agree, it's not quite enough.

Thanks, the cymbals are giga samples, can't recall the library.
Yeah, the ending was an afterthought and you're right it's pretty straight
    ahead chord structure.

Thanks again for the comments and warm welcome.

No, Not a drummer...the percussion sounds just sound like something you'd hear coming from a $15 dollar Casio keyboard.

The clicky one that sounds like a metronome going off, also sounds like it has a heavy dose of reverb on it. it's possibly too loud. maybe back in the mix a little it would be better.

    Hey mwalter,

Thanks so much man, I really appreciate it!
I especially like the sunset comment, that's what music is supposed to do...
    invoke a feeling or emotion.

Yeah, there is a lot of reverb on that sample, I was going for atmosphere
Thanks for the tips man, maybe I'll pull back the "clicky metronome" thingy.

I think it just may be too loud..it's so "in your face" woodblock sounding. may try also eq a little of the high end out of it and maybe give it a more bassy woodblock feel.

Edit: The "Casio" sound was refering to the heavy reverb. Was not clear what I meant by that in other post.

Yeah, that's just Sounclicks labeling. Most of my stuff is guitar based and I just didn't bother to change it for this tune. I played all of the guitars except the fast 16th note run which I think you are referring is a sampled nylon string played on keyboard.

Yeah, the ending was an afterthought. Basically, a copy and paste job which I then used tempo map to ****. I agree, it does sound artificial. Back to the drawing board

Thanks Again, I really appreciate it!
