New MOTU 896mk3 Hybrid

I have this unit due in Thursday.  This is my first MOTU device.  Is there anything special I should do or be on the look out for?  I use Win 10 64 bit.  How about buffer size for "decent" latency?   I don't have a T.I. firewire port so I'll use USB 2.0 with this unit.   It is a replacement (Upgrade?) for a Roland Octa-Capture that will be relegated to backup.

    Rock-solid unit

    Round-trip latency at a 64-sample ASIO buffer size 44.1k is about 6ms.
    Sound is very good...

The additional LED meters are nice

I got the MOTU 896mk3 Hybrid connected in Win 10.
Setting the buffer to 64/44.1 as Jim suggests gets outstanding low latency.
Sonar Platinum 2016.04 reports the following:
    Input 2.7msec 121 Samples
    Output 3.3msec 146 Samples
    Total Roundtrip 6.1msec 267 Samples

    Edited to correct roundtrip samples.

"Unscientifically" checking each analog input channel with an AT2050 Condenser mic, there is no "coloring" of the sound and no detectable noise floor.  I connected my Pedal Steel Guitar (has Bill Lawrence 710 humbucker pickups) directly and it too was clean, although through a tube preamp or miked is much better.

I'll be interested since I'm using an Octa but am still on W-8.1, I worry that when I upgrade to W-10 the Octa might not work as well. I have USB-3 ports but the Thunderbolt on PCs has me interested. Anyway, update this when you can, I'll watch this thread.
    Thanks!

I'm on Win 10.  The Octa-Capture works the same on 10 as Win 7/8.  Roland has "plug and play" drivers for Win 10.

My problem has been hardware reliability with the Octa-Capture and inability to get parts from Roland or a Roland service center (whether its needed part(s) are not available or they won't sell them to me).  The headphone jack has failed twice on me and the last time during a recording session.  The first time was a bad solder joint for the jack on the circuit board.  The second time it fell apart and I was able to replace it but I had to cannibalize another (unused) device to get the jack - none are available from any source in the US (the only place I found that possibly has one is in a remote European location).

I give MOTU a "demerit" for over complex operation.  Its not "plug and play", they "complicated the ham sandwich" by everything having to be manually set - even monitoring of inputs.
