New Octa-Capture driver and firmware rev 1.50

Roland released version 1.50 of Octa-Capture drivers and firmware a week or two ago. If you upgrade, you need to upgrade both. My upgrade went without a hitch, and it retained all my previous settings as far as I can tell.

From the updated manual:

Features of OCTA-CAPTURE Version 1.5
• The control panel is more graphical, allowing intuitive operation.
• The AUTO-SENS function can be operated from the control panel.
• The latency with ASIO has been reduced even further.
• The operating sample rate can be changed from within your DAW application

From what I've read, the Octa-capture is already doing well with low latency. How much further the latency reduced after this upgrade ? do you feel the changes ?

I'm thinking of saving to get the octa, instead of having to worry about getting the right fw interface for (future) notebook.

    great update...

sample rate change from DAW, auto sens from GUI.....awesome !!  These were my only two issues with the octa-capture - now they are solved.

The latency and stability under load are greatly improved too.

The upgrade is a little intense...follow the directions in the manual carefully.  Not sure what happens if you do things out of sequence, but I followed the procedure to a T and it worked great.

    Hi JR !

With the   1.50  Driver, what is the lowest selectable  Buffer Latency Size  setting  ?

    =>  16 Samples / 32 Samples / 48 Samples / 64 Samples / 128 Samples / 256 Samples  etc...... ?

    Thanks,
    Tom

I'm also liking the new v1.5 software update for my Octacapture. It is definately an improvement but what I would really like to see would be a 3 band eq for each channel. That would really make it complete. After all, who doesn't want or need to eq vocals..

I upgraded mine and no problems.  However, I have to set the playback buffer in Sonar to 768 and the Octa-Capture buffer to 6 to prevent random droputs on Sonar playback.  This is not a V1.5 problem, I had the same thing with the original 1.0.

I don't like the new control panel.  I like sliders better than knobs.
