New PRV Track Pane

I come on here and complain a lot about things that need improvement, and while all those things I bring up do really need improvement, I know I also complain a lot. So let me change it up for once.

Just installed Sonar Professional after 4+ years on X3e, and I just want to say how much I love the new Track Pane in PRV. I've only used it for a few days now, but it's just so thoughtfully designed and implemented, it's really making a tangible difference in my music making. I just love it. I hope the team who worked on this feature gets to see this post. You all did a fantastic job with it, and I'm extremely pleased. THANK YOU!!

It's awesome isn't it.  It finally allowed me to start actually using Sonar for MIDI editing that relies on many controllers per track.   I used Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 for years until Cakewalk introduced single lane controller lanes.

    Windows 10 64bit fully patched, 16 gig ram .
    PCR-800 Controller.  (Working in Win 10 1809 64bit)
    CPU: i5 4670.
    Video: Nvidia GTX560ti (latest drivers).
Audio IF: Focusrite 2i2 2nd Gen

    Internet always on.

    Me too.

I used to be sure I selected the midi track I wanted to work with before ALT-3 or I could be editing the vocal track for instance, then would have to either navigate the menus to get to the track picker of old or close the PRV and try harder.

Now I can go ALT-3 and if it's not on the midi track intended, it can be in milliseconds.

I didn't see the real value in it but do now.

I think its rather nice to also bring up Cakewalks improvements.
Sure everything could use improvements, I have a list . But I am also very happy with the changes made to Sonar over the past 2 years. Switching to the Monthly updates was one of the best things Cakewalk could have done. call it subscription call it what ever but I see improvements every month now (vs what used to be every year).

So I commend you on playing both sides of the plate (complaining but also throwing Cakewalk a bone).
Those guys seem to work very hard on Sonar.
I believe a lot of folks thought cakewalk might be cashing in when they did life time updates, but all ive seen is massive, massive improvements since they did the lifetime updates.

Yeah, since I'm new to the subscription with Sonar, I haven't had a Christmas yet, but I recently sent in an issue to support that they couldn't fix*, and now I have some hope that I'll actually see the fix soon.

@bitman: I feel your now-relieved pain, man. I used to lock contents on PRV tabs so that I wouldn't have to go through what you went through. Now, using the Filter tool, I just select the instruments in the section I'm working on, so I only ever need one PRV tab. So much easier.

    * (When you change the background color in PRV, only the color of the white keys is changed - the black keys remain that light gray no matter what. I prefer a dark background, white meant the black keys were these bright stripes.)
