Ha, I like the "magic eye" tube.
Back in the day it was a real tube with a phosphor that glowed green. The "V" shape closed to indicate max signal.
They were used often in radio tuning indicators and vu indicators.

Finally...This and Stealth are the only 2 I don't have.
I've been wanting IK to make this plugin for a long time so it will be interesting to see how well it compares to others.

Yeah, I have Reelbus, Mixbus, and the Sonar Tape Sim (which I would love to see Cakewalk expand a bit). I also have SDRR, and Saturn. That should do, but I'm curious with IK. They make good stuff. I have 30 credits, so a 50% off sale would make it $10. I'll wait for that.

I think we'll see TRacks 5 sometime this year. That suggests there will be some interesting promotions. I spoke with an IKM rep at NAMM and he told me their biggest challenge was to figure out how to price it. I've got a whole bunch of add-on TRacks plug-ins that I've picked up through the occasional group buy or similar deal. It's probably a different list from a whole lot of other folks who also have many, but not all, of those plug-ins. So, how is IKM going to set up an upgrade sales scenario that will be attractive to the multitudes who own some, but not all the components? It will be interesting to observe. One prediction I can confidently make: there will be b-i-t-c-h-ing.

The Tracks 5 upgrade will probably be a lot like Amplitube 4...
$99 All owned modules crossed over, A few new things as sweeteners.

Thought I'd chime in with some comments on how the plugin performs.
In a word: fantastic. With 10 different flavors of saturation and distortion to choose from, it's very easy to find something that fits your needs. Just from some initial testing, I find I really like the Tape, Tube, and Master settings, which to me sound very natural and can be dialed from light edginess to utter mangling and anything in between. The Transformers are good for adding a subtle weight to sources -- they appear to model the Steel and Iron transformer settings familiar to Shadow Hills users -- the "eye" meter is also similar to the one from SH hardware.
GUI ergonomics are excellent. I enjoyed the ability to link the Input Gain and Output, and the controls are all straightforward. The plugin was also very stable during my tests.
CPU Usage: not as high as I'd feared. Fortunately, IK has included an oversampling switch, which lets you choose from 1x, 2x, and 4x. The lower two settings are CPU-friendly -- 1x has a negligible hit, while 2x is in the same manageable range as SDRR, ReelBus, and bx_saturator. 4x puts it closer to plugs like Saturn and Trash 2 on their more intensive settings, but still nowhere near CPU destroyers like Ozone, Waves TG12345, and IK's own 432 Mastering EQ. Of course, YMMV.
I'd say the price is fair, considering the competition, the plugin's versatility, and how good it sounds. And naturally there will be various promos in the future which will reduce the outlay. Nice job, IK!

Thanks for your review Eddie. IK has released some very good T-Racks and the most recent Mastering EQ, Stealth Limiter and the Neve EQ's are top notch. Glad to hear they did it again with this.
