New Pugtones Tune "Raindance" Remix 11-25-14

Well, this is our first new song in over a year. Mark sent the music and the name "Raindance".  From there I channeled my inner Cherokee.  It didn't start that way but as the song went on it ended up that way.  It took me forever because I couldn't come up with a straight through theme.  The vocals are pieced together with ideas coming slowly.  So, was I really there with my Grandpa.  No, but I think my Dad probably was.   I hope you enjoy it.  Mark did some nice stuff in this one. that is a method of writing i use as well, sometimes....
it's funny how it works, when you start out thinking it will go one way,
but ends up exactly where it ends up no matter how hard you try to mess it up!

mix:
i'd like to hear a little more presence or upper mid on the bass guitar...
it's a nice smooth low end, but is just a touch mushy.
 
also, i'd like to hear a little more high end across the whole thing....
there needs to be a little sibilence (or at least that area of high end) on the voice,
to make the words a little more intelligible

Very good performances. Melody was also splendid. Thunder sounds were a bit disturbing although I understood that it was kind of essential to the song. Mix was good imo. Overall 4.5/5 stars.

NO Warren do not do it, you just know you will regret it, besides you would have to make it a regular expense this would limit your GAS impulses.

Kakku- Thanks for listening.  That thunder wasn't in the original and the lead was 8 bars.  Mark added that and 24 more bars of lead.  Really changed the mood.  Thanks for commenting.
 
 Jablow-  Ha, so Mark is leaving the thunder.   i do have to say that the first time I heard it after he added it I was kinda in the same mindset.  After the second listen I realized it subdued my vocals a bit and what could be wrong with that?    Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment.

Dan comment nailed it for me as well....I felt the CSNY/modern vibe...you guys really put together a haunting beast here. I think the thunder boomers were fine and only added to the tune. The vox performance and mix were great...the guitar work was perfect for the tune in that the tones and long haunting notes seem to call me to the storm. This really painted a full and very cool picture in my mind and told a great story.

will we have to wait another ****ing year for awesome Pugtones tune?...I'm gettin old boys...dont leave me hangin!! :)

  Wow, this one really goes there.  it has a huge presence and the vocals really shine.  I like how it kinda veers off into strange place before coming back to the theme and vox from the beginning...all good in my book.  Nice guitars, bass and all sits well in the mix on my system.  Nice work and congrats on your first song in a while.  Rock on!

Good job guys.  Very creative.  I feel some Doors, CSNY, and of course you guys.  Cool vibe.  Very creative vocals.

Bass seems muddy and a bit too loud to my ears. Drums are bit lost.

I heard a stutter (in the guitar) in the beginning. Not sure if it was intentional.

Ed- Well, I can't hear a stutter and I think that we both have our ideas of how the bass should sound.  The Pugtones on nthis tune are guitar, drums and bass trying to fill a sound canvas using harmonies also.  Our parts would be more present. If you recall I have said in the past that your bass on some tunes was a bit too trebly and quiet so I think it's just what we want to hear which really makes sense, right?.  I appreciate you listening and commenting.  

Maybe the stutter was connection related on my side.
 
We're good Warren. Even when you've said that (in the past) I've taken it to heart even if I did not change it.
 
Some guys like Donald "Duck" Dunn, some like Jack Bruce, some like Stanley Clarke, some like Jaco and some even like Chris Squire.

I really like this Warren - great atmosphere and a great song.
