Each drawbar and combinations of drawbars were recorded and processed for the ultimate sound quality. Each program features 8 custom designed instrument controls for quick editing of drawbar settings, leslie speed, and timbre. The B3 generates sounds using a tone generator consisting of an AC synchronous motor driving a set of 91 tone wheels, each of which rotates adjacent to a magnet and coil assembly. The number of bumps on each wheel determines the pitch produced by a particular tone wheel. The Hammond uses a unique drawbar system of additive timbre synthesis and stable tuning. A note on the organ consists of the fundamental and a number of harmonics, or multiples of that frequency. In the B3, the fundamental and up to eight harmonics are available, controlled the drawbars which are labeled to represent pipe organ pitches. The two speed Leslie rotating speaker was a large part of the B3’s signature sound. Counterrotating sound deflectors (one for the woofer and one for the tweeter) create a wonderful Doppler vibrato effect. Shop Now

Is this the same as the DSF Steinway Grand Piano that I bought years ago that works with Sound Center (and now Rapture) or is this a completely new product? Thanks.

According to https://www.digitalsoundfactory.com/steinway-grand the DSF Steinway Grand Piano uses a Steinway Model L and the installer in 135MB. It would seem different from the SampleTekk Classic Grand since it uses a Steinway Model D and the installer is 200MB. Not having both I cannot say for sure though.

That is helpful. I also checked the SampleTekk site and I believe it's not the same product. I just wanted to confirm before making the purchase. Thanks.

This is a completely different pack made by SampleTekk. They use their own professionally recorded sounds created in their studio in Sweden.

SOLVED: New Rapture Instrument Packs!
2017/07/19 00:50:49

Sorry - my bad. Didn't scroll down enough on the Rapture Session browser. All good Hi, I've bought the Sampletank Classic Grand - I own Rapture Session with Sonar Platinum - and have installed through the Cakewalk Command Centre, but can't see it when I open Rapture Session. I scanned for new VSTs, (although it didn't find any new ones - strange). Where do I look for the Sampletank product? I'm presuming that I insert the Rapture Session as a soft synth and it should be in the presets there, but it isn't. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Dave

Hopefully "SampleTank" was a typo :) An expansion pack doesn't install a new VST, it shows up in the left pane of the browser. Click on that, and the presets should appear.

Haha ... no, just a mistake Craig. I find I'm pretty good at making them : ) Thanks for the help - I realised I hadn't scrolled down far enough in the browser to find it.

The SampleTekk Classic Grand seems to be really heavy on resources! It sounds good, but playing it on its own through Rapture Session I'm constantly getting clicks (worse when I use the sustain pedal), and the "Classic Grand Bright" program range drops complete notes at random. When I run it through Sonar Pro, in addition to the clicks and dropped notes, it regularly crashes the sound engine (when playing this piano plus 2 other Rapture instruments simultaneously). No other Rapture instruments have given me any trouble at all, so it's something specific to SampleTekk. I'm running it at 44.1kHz through a UA-1G with buffering dialed up to max, on a Windows 10 quad i7 with 24Gb RAM plus SSD - what can I tweak to make it usable? I've observed it's only using 1 of the 8 virtual CPUs, and using it heavily.

Dropped notes is often an indication of to small a "Prepare using nnn millisecond buffers" setting in Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recording. Try increasing the value from 250 to 500 or 750. Sometimes running interface buffers to high can be a problem. Try reducing the interface buffer a little.

Thanks @scook, I increased the "Prepare using nnn millisecond buffers" setting and it did remove clicks during playback, even with buffering dropped back to default as you suggested. It doesn't cure clicking when playing live, but it does allow me to build a cleaner track when playing back the MIDI score. The STP Bright range is still dropping notes however. Super-weirdly: I froze the piano track - so it pre-built the audio track without real-time constraints, so it should be perfect - and guess what? When freezing it using the "STP Bright Hall" patch it STILL dropped notes!!! Notes that all play fine when I use the "STP Classic Hall" (ie. non-bright) patches, or an external NanoPiano. I am...perplexed.
