New STEP SEQUENCER UI

I may be one of the few who uses the Step Sequencer (and uses it a lot), so I'd grown quite used to the previous interface before the X1c update.

So before I go through with updating, I was wondering if someone could kindly post some screen shots of the new UI, to show any changes that it's undergone.

Thanks!

Haven't got a screen shot but I use the step sequencer quite a lot and IMHO it is an improvement. It's 'prettier' now more of a dark grey 'rounded' look than the squarer blueish hue. It also now has it's own dedicated menu bar similar in the way the PRV and other views do, containing what was in the right click context menu.

Still can't stretch the window out wide enough to take 8 beats with 8 steps though.

Yeah, it's not a big change. It just looks like they're gradually changing all the secondary views over to the X1 style. So as FBB says, it's got its own menu bar, and a bit of a visual refresh.

One thing I really like in the new SSV is the "Now Time"  - i.e. the blinking yellow cursor that shows what step is currently hitting. It just feels more solid - like hardware beat machines. I also much prefer the way controllers are handled and displayed.

If you go to this extremely well-hidden link:

The preview video for my Sonar X1 Advanced Workshop video is the one that talks about using the step sequencer. You'll see plenty about the UI there

I don't see a preview video for the SONAR X1 Advanced Workshop following that link.

Where's the preview video, I'm interested in seeing it. :)

The UI changes in the SSV and the Loop Construction simply make it look like it's actually part of X1 and not a leftover from an earlier version. I like it. Now if they could work the same magic on the audio snap pallet and step recording windows I'd be stoked.

Agree. I assume they're working through them as they go along.

Cool. A preview video could help increase sells. :)

I don't know if this was specific to my system, well, 2 systems and 3 versions of Sonar to be exact, but I noticed I no longer have to click the 'Play' button twice in the Step Sequencer now to get it to play.

    That was a royal pima.

    I don't understand this.

On the X1 main forum, this thread reads:

Is the new step sequencer GUI the most successful ever?

    by mike_mccue

Yet when you go into it, the title is:

    New STEP SEQUENCER UI
    and the author is dimelives1

It's because my new thread got merged into this thread seemingly as the thread was being posted.

I couldn't even find the thread myself.

I don't think Mr. Cakewalk likes me anymore. ;-)

The truth is, this thread answered all my questions.

    best regards,
    mike
