New SWA videos on X3 from Karl Rose (FBB)
These might be of interest to those out there who have, or are considering, an upgrade to X3. Karl Rose (Fast-Biker bloke) did an in-depth series before for Sonar that was well put together, albeit better served as a reference perhaps due to its length. This new video seems shorter and more focused on new features in X3, and there's a teaser video on this link too: http://streamworksaudio.com/products/X3_NewFeatures Good luck Karl with these, I'm sure they'll prove to be useful again to many on the forums, etc.

Downloading now... thanks, Karl! Groove was a lot of rehash of the X series (which is great for all new users but...) and looks like you're more focused on the wonderous NEW world of X3. Really appreciate your insites and tidbits... Now if my old aging brain could just remember them all!!!!

yes a little disappointed with the x3 groove 3 videos. a quick look shows a lot of the same topics as x1 and x2 explained. I know there is a need to show users who don't own those two the features but to us the loyal users, who have purchased the previous 3 sonar videos. we were kind of shafted with about 10 new videos if that. not worth it. a lot of you know me not to be negative but here I got to say im not really too happy. but I must say groove 3 people are always very nice. this is only one video I don't care for. plenty more where that came from. by the way this is my 5000 post wooohoooooo

Happy 5K, Charlie. And I've liked FBB's last video. I may get this one. Not sure yet. Still breaking in X3.
StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen. I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.

Thanks for the props people. Yes the new video is much shorter, the wife mentioned 'divorce' if it turned into another marathon epic. (Tempting I must say ) It focuses entirely on the new stuff and any changes to the old including all the plugins. After discussions with Chris at SWA we thought this would be a better way to go rather than rehash the X2 video. This new one is designed (hopefully) so you can get info from it if you don't have the X2 video but it compliments it (rather than repeats) if you do. The result is no one has to listen to my dulcet tones for over nine hours. This one is just over two I believe. Thanks again.

Based on the description, this seems much more useful for X3 than the Groove 3 series. The groove videos seem like rehashes of the X1 and x2 vids. Well done, but redundant if you watched the X1 and X2.

Yes, there is a LOT of overlap in the Groove 3 video. However, as Chuck mentioned, it's for the audience that has not watched the X1 or X2 videos. he does a great job none the less.

Eli is probably saving the best bits for the advanced video that will follow perhaps. hopefully he does one at some point. x3 isn't that massively different to say 8.5 and x1 was.. so it's tricky... you can't say to a new user.. oh and if u wanna know the basics buy x1 and x2 vid's also. Have the year pass for groove3, like others on here. so no biggy.

Hey All, Fog got it right. I am sorry that the Sonar X3 Explained videos does cover much of the same ground as the previous Explained titles. But our goal is to have a single unified series that allows users to get up to speed with the new version (X3) from scratch. And to do so with a video series shot in that version. Groove3 has done the same thing with other DAWs; Pro Tools, Cubase, Logic, etc. I always do make sure to include the new features relevant to the new intended workflows. The "what's new in version xxx" path is also a great way to go. It's just not what we chose to do this time round. Eli

I had figured that I'd watch the Groove3 X3 videos when I update, but just watch the chapters that applied to the new stuff in X3. Not sure why people are disappointed that it covers much the same ground as the X2 course when you'd have to learn that same stuff if you were learning X3 from scratch. And it's not as if they've reused the same videos, they've all been done afresh. But what kind of different stuff were you expecting to find in, say, the piano roll video? Agreed, if I'd purchased the X2 course then I probably wouldn't buy the X3 course because of the similar content. But since I have a Groove3 subscription then of course I'm going to take advantage of the new stuff.

Not really. It's not painful at all just bent. I snapped the top tendon and now it's fixed it won't straighten properly. While my finger was in a splint I learnt to hold a pick between thumb and middle finger, now I'm re-learning using the index finger.
