New SampleTekk Hammond M100 organ and 50% off all Organs.
This has just been released with the introductory price of $24.50
ST Little Bastard For KontaktRecently I was in a studio doing something completley different, when I suddenly spotted something lurking in the corner. When looking more closly, I found that it was a M100 Hammond Organ with a Leslie 147 cabinett. Liking all things tubed, and knowing that this is the model used on ”Whiter Shade Of Pale” and by John Paul Jones on Led Zeppelins first album, I had to give it a try. It started and swirled into action. Cranking it up it delivered a rawness that just made me wanting to record it. Ok, miked the Leslie and started recording. I recorded 48 different settings, with the Leslie on slow and fast speed. Nothing fancy, nothing special, just a Little Bastard making a lot of noise. So here it is, for your entertainment! Choose one of the 48 presets, use the modwheel to change between fast and slow leslie. You'll need minimum Kontakt 4 full version. It will open in the free player, or with a player that came with another Kontakt instrument, but only in a demo mode. That means that there's a timielimitation/session. Download is about 720Mb
I am in two minds on this one, the demos sound good, but unlike their L-100 Hammond library this just has 48 presets with a fast/slow Leslie switch rather than full control of the drawbars, percussion and distortion. Sounds like he has sampled the Leslie rather than using Kontakt's rotary simulator so the rotor may be out of phase on each note in a chord.

Interesting name. There's not as much stigma nowadays about that sort of thing. 'Little bundle of joy' may have been a better name.

Accident! Seriously though I never like them calling products things like that. Not as bad as that yellow amp a few years back - the f_ing f_er.

I'm going to get it... Sampletekk has a pretty good track record for sampling things "in situ", I still use their Rhodes and Wurli instruments that were recorded through amplifiers.
Sometimes you want the flexibility of an library that emulates the rotary loudspeaker... sometimes you want the rotary loudspeaker! I've yet to hear an emulation that was spot-on, although I find that the B-4 sits very nicely in a mix.
So yeah, I'll give it a shot... I can see where it could be a problem playing chords, from a theoretical perspective, but I'll bet he figured out a work-around... more later!

Let us know how you get on. The rotary speaker phasing may be a non issue in practice. I would be intrested in how different it sounds to the M100 in Vintage Organs. With Drawbars I usualy use a Kontakt multi so I have two manuals. I kill Kontakt rotor simulator and put it through XILS labs LX122, that combination rocks!

Hi
Per from SampleTekk here. As said in the text, I was in the studio doing something completly different and found this thing in a corner. Since I'm a sucker for everything large, from the 60's and tube driven, I became curious and fired it up. I liked the sound, and miked the leslie and recorded 47 different settings plus basspedals. Recorded leslie fast/slow separatly. It was really a "spur of the moment" thing! When editing it, I thought it sounded nice enough to make it available. It is not something for the Hammond purists. Recording with the leslie spinning makes different notes have different spin so to speak. Also, when going between slow and fast, you don't get the gradual acceleration. Also the vibrato is not synced when sampling like this. All that set aside, I think it works really well in a context. Also, a positive side effect is that you dont get any phase cancellations!
So, look at it as a palette of sounds that can be fun ans inspiring to play around with!
