New Sonar Home Studio users/feedback/reviews/ideas/etc!
I got the new Sonar Home Studio a few days after it was released (the first time I saw it mentioned). I either saw it in a Facebook ad, email from Cakewalk, or at Sweetwater.com news article. I have both Sonar Artist (currently not updating) and Music Creator 7 and after doing some reading (limited info out there), I realized it was a product aimed right between the two (imo). That suits me perfect as I am "not" a well versed and active studio hand yet, and have tried so many daws, that I could write a book, and even though they are all great in own way and do something cool and unique, most are packed full of features that if not carefully managed by the programmers, make the interface and workflow (IE learning curve) quite frustrating or overwhelming for the hobbyist studio....... Or maybe its just me, lol
I have only begun to explore and mess around with the new Home Studio, but I can tell you its a pleasing GUI, seems to cover all the basics plus intermediate use for home studio creations, covers all my VST2 and VST3 plugins, has an allowable track count in the hundreds (64 audio, 128 midi), starts up clean, scans songs, demos, and plugins quickly with no faults (unlike some other daws). Lets me feel like I get the best of both worlds, Depth of Sonar full editions plus a non chaotic interface like a more mature and serious MC7.....yet still pretty and inspiring! Yes, it has some limitations (instrument use, FX count, etc), maybe I should have just opted for another year of updates for my Artist instead (honestly I wasn't aware that lenses were going to be avail on both), but I do like the more simple controls of Home Studio to not seem daunting...... Hopefully someone will not tell me that I could have just edited my Artist to show the same and be just as simple looking, gasp! :)
Hows that for a review? lol
