New Sonar X1 tutorials on Youtube

Hi Guys

There is an English guy on Youtube who has posted several videos on Sonar X1. I just thought I would post a link here as I think his videos are good. I have nothing to do with him or any of the videos. I just noticed that he is not getting many Youtube views despite putting out some very good videos of Sonar X1.

So I think he deserves a few more views so this is my attempt to get him a few more well deserved views.

Compared to other DAWs there are not too many Sonar Videos on Youtube outside the Cakewalk Youtube channel so anyone posting good Sonar Tutorials should be encouraged IMHO.

Anyway here is his latest video on Mastering.

    Hi Mesh,

    Thanks for your post.

His latest video on Mastering is aimed more at beginners but there are others as well that are more advanced. He is quite open to suggestions as to future videos.

Anyway any videos on Sonar whether for beginner or the more advanced users are always welcome on Youtube.

Right then I am off to bed. Goodnight everyone!

Wow, Steve, thanks for the link and thanks to the "Engish guy" for the vids.

What do you do all day Steve, search for X1 vids or what?

Nice to see everything X1 related for me. I still have so much to learn. I did check out one video where I swear he forgot to turn on the Pro Channel and was asking if we could hear the difference. Pretty minor unless you don't know X1.

The V-Vocal tuts were pretty good too and I also like the Matrix tut which I've been playing with for the last hour. Really fun and so nice to see someone actually use these features. It opens up a lot of doors.

    Humbly Yours

    Hi Elffin,

Thanks for your post. I had a look at Youtube and I noticed that his new video is getting a lot of views.

I think his last video got something like 40 views.

There was no point in him making Sonar videos if no one knew about them hence the reason for the original post.

I dont know why he just didnt post a link here himself.

Anyway that was my good deed for the weekend.

He yabbers on too much about nothing. In fact the first video he yabbers on about how much he is going to yabber on ... for 3 minutes.

yes i thought so too..i liked his production work..the video is very well done..but to wait almost 4 minutes before anything starts..its a little slow..trying not to complain here but...the first 8 minutes..the only thing that took place was turning off two plug ins to show the difference in sound.i hope he puts another one out for a more proffessional result..he does seem like a nice guy though.and i hope he brings more to the table because i would like to see more x1 vids.

I liked the production values, however, there are inaccuracies in his explanations.  For example, he stated that compression brings up or lowers frequencies.  While that may be the end result in certain instances, a better definition would be:

"An audio level compressor reduces the dynamic range of an audio signal by using a variable gain amplifier to reduce the gain of the signal if it passes a set threshold."

Although the overall production of this video is very well done, he either misunderstands compression or just has difficulty explaining what it does. He speaks about how compression brings up the lower frequencies, when he should say it raises the level of the quietest parts, including all frequencies. He begins by describing compression, but, his description is that of a limiter, not a compressor. I hate to see beginners be misinformed. Although he does sound like a great guy he should better prepare by doing a little homework.
