New Song Brethren for Life

I have been working on mixing as I have been finding it difficult to locate someone who would do it for me for a good price and seeing that Sonar is an all rounder. I decided to dabble in to it my self. So im learning at the moment hopefully I will get better.
 
Room is totally untreated so I know im not the best at it but im having a good go!

No good I want advice on it because im doing it on my own with no input from anyone else. So its important to enhance my thinking and my skills.

Im still learning and wanting that warm sound not too thin so im working on that too!
 
I watched a video where the first thing they did was have the singer sing in to the mic until they got his tone right. No recording, no mixing just making sure they have his tone. Is this something that is done all the time.

It's not as busy as it was a few years back, but the general rule applies, that if you comment on other people's stuff, they generally return the favour. Some still don't though.
