Chaz - thanks for your encouraging words. To be referred to as a 'fine mixer' by you is a complement in the highest order.

I am just giving credit to where credit is due, Dan. You really have done a great job mixing these tunes.

I suppose that I could just grab a bunch of mics and try them all till we're both blue in the face, but I bet even after I did all that, you'd still have more varied mic experience than me. What do you think?

It's really hard to say without hearing your wife. I'd be happy to lend you a 4040 for a time so you could try it to see if you like it. You're in Maple Grove, right? I could give it to my buddy Brian who works at the Warner Stellian there and you could grab it from him. Send me an email if you're interested.

Dan if you have time I'd like to follow up with one or two more questions about your accosutic guitar recording technique. I am really struggling and I suspect it is because I don't have good equipment (guitar/mic/ - no pre-amp etc). Would like to shoot you an email. I am kiwisdontdrinktea at yahoo.com. Only if you have time. I know we're all busy . Thanks much.

well I've decided to spend today having a listen to what you folks get up to and well . .

This is very very very very good.

GO AN DO AN ACOUSTIC VERSION!!

I think that would ping those heartstrings that little extra enough to leave NFL players blubbing like a baby.

This version is excellent though and i'm only making a suggestion - it would certainly lend itself to acoustic treatment very well.

Is that the vintaudio piano btw?

Kind regards

Dave Rich.

Hi Dave,

I'm glad you enjoy the song. Thanks for listening.

Believe it or not, we have an acoustic version of this song that we do live all the time. We just haven't recorded it, yet. I agree that it's a good idea.

Michael from Japan recorded the piano and I don't know what kind it is. I'll wait for Dan to answer that question.

Thanks,
Amy

Dave, thanks for listening - I appreciate your comments. I wish you would hang around here more often. I loved your last song post, "On the Balcony."

Michael, correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the piano is the NI Bosendorfer.

Thanks,

Yes I know. It amazes me sometimes how I was given so much and yet was deserving of so little...I count my blessings daily. God is good.

If you liked Beautiful, you should also listen to Amy's songs:

Lies and Compassion.

Abbey may have spoken for many of us on your behalf. My wife and I still argue about who got the better deal. I still insist that I did, by a long shot. One of her aunts overheard us once, and retorted "What? Did you get her on sale?" Oh well...

BTW, I'm not from around here originally, so I'm stumped. What's a hazer? Seems to apply to both of you. Care to comment?

I did, and yes, they are also very well done. If I was Rocketown, I'd have my marketing guy on the line with you yesterday. (How about that?)

I used to play in a local band called "Maricopa Haze." We played around town at places like, The Fine Line, Bogart's, Brewbakers, Bunkers and other nightclubs. The people who were in the band and the fans of the band were called "hazers." It met its demise in 2002, but the term "hazer" has somehow just stuck around. I have a ton of recordings I made from that band using SONAR, but I have not been inclined to share them with forum people.

Thanks for the vote of confidence regarding Rocketown - their A&R people will be reviewing her demo.

Thanks again,

Dan Monaghan

I used to play in a group called MR. EDD. It was a comedy show with cover songs like "Yes" and "Genesis". One of our favorite places to play was is my own home town (Rome, NY) and it was also called "Bogart's". Is that cool or what?

You know, I was guessing that it had to do either with a band or a hockey team. It all makes sense now... thanks for explaining!

I bet they would sound good and be fun to hear, too. But I see one aspect of your dilemma, at least... if all of a sudden they got "noticed", who would perform them??

I'm sure there are many more "Bogart's" in the country. The name has a certian ring to it.

Thanks again Abbey for checking out my wife...I mean - eh hem - her music.

Frankly Carlos, I'm not all too proud of the stuff I did with the 'Hazers.' There were a few bright spots, but there was a lot of extraneous guitar solos, pounding drums, and - well - me on lead vocals. I'm not a bad singer, don't get me wrong, I just don't have the 'lead singer vibe' if you take my meaning. And while Amy helped out on vocals, it was just is not up to the level that Amy's stuff is. She is WAY better.

Thanks again,

Tend yee not to worry m' lad of shaded eyes which hath strikithed a pose before the jolly greenwood of Robin. (Dan, that's gotta be your son, right?) I checkith out notith thy wife, for the God of my eyes has stuck them blind when the lass of my youth ran off with my shoes. [I used to keep my coke bottle glasses in them whenst I sleptith.]
