New Song "Eugene" with live trumpets

Here's a new song I just finished. It's short(under 3 minutes) and features live trumpet. The horns were recorded with a low budget ribbon mic - Apex 205, plugged directly into my mixer. Any comments are appreciated. http://marwoodwilliams.bandcamp.com/track/eugene

I had to laugh when I heard this. This is one of the best school fight songs I've ever heard. Go ducks.

    All the best,

Very cool, love the lyrics ... hit me with the trumpet break a bit sooner and then again as the outro.

Makes me want to break out my student model Conn from 1973 (yes I still have it).

Sounds pretty tight. I have no crits on the mix.

    Cheers

If you are using reverb on the clave track, set the predelay on the reverb to zero.  The trumpet sounded terrific.

It is funny how we seem to hear different things sometimes. I thought the mix was tight and thet talent is superb all round'. To my ears the mix in general and especially the trumpets seemed to be too dry...not enough verb IMO. Maybe that is what you want and my opinion can be atken with a grain of salt...a very small grain.

I would not pile a lot of reverb on it if it were me but I would add something in there that fit with it. I used to play trumpet and I once upon a time loved to hear Maynard Ferguson and those other guys who went higher than a human should be able to on a trumpet. I think maybe I got hooked on those echos they added in there on the many of their solo parts.
