Micheal and Jeff, Listening now. Really nice jam and sound. Like the lyrics and vocals are right up front where they should be. Nice balance to everything through headphones. Really nice song. John

Micheal and Jeff, very nice vibe. Great lyrics and performance. Vocals are awesome. Low end seems a little muddy, could use some low freq cut.

Thank you all very much for the kind comments.

Tom - I've had many problems with the lowend. I agree with you and did cut before posting...not enough I guess. I think I recorded the part eq'd to low.
Learning...and I hope I can figure out how to correct this. May have to redo the part.

Again, we appreciate your time and comments very much.

Has that Stevie Ray vibe in the beginning Mike. Love it! A little hi-pass (very subtly on the mix) should clear this up a little. Absolutely love those guitar tones!! Jeff's vox is very good. Heck, the whole song is well performed. Whio jut walked out the door??? LOL! Ya got my blood flowing this morning for sure...

    Mike

    This is superb.

It manages a great retro vibe but retains a huge coolness factor, which co-incidentally describes ME really well...

Great guitar sounds, a really good tune and a classic ending.

Mix? I got too lost in the track to worry about it.

    Loved it.

btw I loved the title too.

Sweeeet! Very nice tune. Love the R&B vibe(where SRV sort of picked it up) in the song & especially the intro. Good guitar work and nice vocal. Very enjoyable. (Bass is already discussed, I see.) Definitely cool.

    Michael,

Cool song. Very nice mix. I think the separation of instruments sounds very well done. I would like a bit more mid to low-mid in the vocals because they feel a little too bright for me. But again that is just me so take it for what it is worth.

Great job guys and keep 'em coming.

Hey, Michael! I didn't hear this before you changed it to take out some mud. It sounds to me like you've got it, tho, but i am listening on a cheap soundcard, so take that for what it's worth.

I really like this - nice beat, great vox (Jeff). really well mixed, too, nothing's too overpowering, well balanced. clean and smooth. what are you using for drums? they're very well done also. love the sound FX at the end! great touch!

Tom- Thank you. Glad you liked it. Your comment on vocals is well taken and a concern of mine. I've been exporting out of Sonar and import into Vegas for conversion to MP3.
I have a set way of doing it because I'm trying to nail the eq difference between the .wav and MP3 (at 192). I'm not there yet...I think what you'd like to hear is what the .wav file is. I will double check that when I get home.

Beagle- Thanks for listening. Anything had to help..I goofed the bass somehow. At least I could hear more notes and the bass drum so I quit there...for now. Waiting to get more opinions.
Drums are EZdrummer and the first time I've used them. I've used Drums On Demand for all the other stuff. I've had EZ for a long time and thought I should give it a shot.
LOL! the ending...I couldn't come up with anything I liked so walking out seemed to fit. Thanks Beagle. Always appreciate your take on things.

    Regards,
    Michael

Smooth Friction? Hummmm, I'm not going to touch that one. I like the guitars, nice tone, nice paning and performances. Good mix and vocals, the backing vocals may could come up a weence (to me).

Hey it sounds real good to me. You've got a real nice song here. I would suggest a few things- dynamics, meaning for a whole verse section bring it all down a little and then crescendo into the chorus- bass and drums could really propell this. I think there is too much reverb on drums, but more importantly I'd try a closed hi hat which will still give a cleansound. Lastly, simple eighth notes on a tom and snare are a great fill to build into a new section. Best intents, Ara www.aratunes.us

Robby-that's the same thing I thought...some things best left alone. Backing vocals , along with other stuff, and me confused as I ever been. There is a big harmonic spread in those parts -like many things something I've never mixed. I tried them all over the place and that's where they landed. Seemed like when they were louder I was distracted from the main part. Sure appreciate the comments-food for thought no doubt.

Shad- thank you. Hard to see it all on the field...great to hear from somebody in the stands...hope that analogy makes sense to you. A valued perspective.

Tom - thank you. thank you. thank you.

Anthony- sure glad you liked it. Appreciate the kind words.

Ara- Those are great ideas...Jeff may thinking along the same line..he mailed another "lead" vocal that I haven't heard.
I've had Vegas +DVD for years and had purchased the license for MP3 long before Sonar. Sony has some very good plugs that I like to use also when I render.

Changes made from help I received here on "Smooth Friction".

Tom and Larry- The bass issue/ mud - First time I've used EZdrummer so remixed/eq'd - put high-pass filters on all the guitars. They all had a pretty heavy bottom. I know better and somehow missed that.
Didn't have to do much with bass guitar after those changes.

Tom(thacko) - Hopefully got Jefff's voice with the mid-lows now. Sounds better to me. Real small change but for the better I think.

Robby- Raised the backup vocals some...still couldn't raise them much because they seem to pull ya away from lead vocal. But they are louder.

The end result as I hear it. Major difference. It sounds much clearer to me.
Wanted you all to know you didn't waste your time with me...your comments are a gift and appreciated.
