New Sound Card/Interface?

Hi All,

It's nice to be doing a first post.

A short intro about me: I used to make laptop pop as a hobby 4 years ago. Recently got a Thinkpad x230 for personal computing which I outfitted with x2 Producer. I am learning the program after using Logic 8 and am working on setting up a basic studio to record vocals and create demo songs. I want to produce my own electronic album as a kind of musical journal to process some difficult experiences and emotions, as well as enjoy the awesome new sounds that synthesizers enable artists to create.

Now for the issue: When I used X2 Studio the default internal soundcard worked as well as my TASCAM US-144 Interface. BUT, when I use X2 Producer the sound doesn't output to the audio jack. If I used the TASCAM, the sounds gets "glitchy" and my computer crashes. Somethin is up, but what?

I've done some research and have seen some recommendations to get a new soundcard/interface. I am not sure if it's a settings issue with cakewalk or my computer. Perhaps it's a driver issue with the hardware. Perhaps x2 Producer isn't compatible with my TASCAM. Perhaps it's the USB cable issue.

The one thing I could determine is that everything is fine with X2 Studio and everything is "****ed" with Producer.

Does anyone have a reccomendation?

Ari

The computer is not a problem, my wife has a very similar machine and it works perfectly with my Tascam.
But are you using Windows 8 or 7, Are there new drivers that support that OS?

My wifes uses W7 64 Professional. Her Hard drive is 7200 RPM.

The Software ( DAW) is the last thing to point the finger at, it's you hardware/ driver set up.

Strange - X2 studio works but X2 Pro doesn't?  they have the same engine.  My guess there is something in the install of extras in X2 Pro is the problem or a double install of something both share.  I'd try a reinstall of X2 after deleting studio and Pro.

That is after seeing about the drivers, etc.

Hello... The main diference between PRO and studio is all the new EFFECTS/PLUG INs you get to use... Are you starting use them now in realtime? on alot of tracks? In other words are you using more CPU resources now? Bounce your tracks with the effects, So you can reduce your realtime CPU resources and DROPOUTS.
If you have a audio routing problem with your "Audio jack" double check your settings in SONAR and Windows for that device.
