New Swum album, recorded, mixed and mastered in Sonar X2

I've been a Sonar user since XL (long time ago), now use X2.  This is a collaboration with a friend of mine, Jared Lopes, a Seattle-based artist and musician, kind of a psych-pop/folk-punk album.  Great, short songs (10 songs in under 15 minutes):

All music was recorded and all in Sonar.

    Roots.

I liked the whole. From the first glance at the web page through to being surprised by the audacity (and I mean that in a good way) of the music. The music seems rad in an authentic sort of way... it's not 4:4 packaged up as rad in black leather... it actually sounds gnarly and it's refreshing to have that sort of aural experience.

    Thank you for sharing.

    best regards,

Hey Mike, thanks for listening!  Really glad you dig it, that's kind of exactly what we were going for.  I'll pass your kind words on to the artist.

    Cheers, Jon

The mix is so garbled that I can't hear the lyrics. It's as if you have everything turned up louder than everything else.

If Jane Siberry and Brian Wilson had a musical child, this is what he/she might sound like. Maybe not, but there are some awesome and very creative ideas in here - not just “well this is different” because different isn't necessarily good - and this is good.
The production sound is very ‘beamed in from the Martian landscape” (in my phones here at work). I love the odd instrumentation -  ukuleles gone wild and some oddball synth work.  Background vocals  act as instruments of their own - clever. Some very interesting choices were made. I like lyrics a lot, nice chords &melodies.
Very different and all in a good way - good for you !

I like some of this - but I would agree with Scotty - the instruments and vocals don't fit well together.

    Pretty cool.

Thanks for the listens and the comments...

Scott, I know this kind of stuff can sound jarring and isn't for everybody, but thanks for listening.

Manny, I'm psyched you like it!  I had to look up Jane Siberry, so she's not a direct influence, but I can appreciate the comparison - I'm definitely into pop music of all strains, but have a sweet spot for the more experimental stuff on the fringe - some of my favorite bands out there right now are Animal Collective, Dirty Projectors, Of Montreal and Deerhoof.  "Oddball synth work" is right on.  Cheers!

    Thanks for listening, Mark.
