New Track - "Burnout"

Hey Everyone,

So I'm slowly but surely working on my 3rd full length album of instrumental music. At first I was thinking about going in a straight up 90s industrial direction, which made this track "Burnout" happen. As it stands now I think the album will be a little more of a variety like my other albums and not focus too much on one sound, but I still love this track and it's the first from the next album I'm putting out there. It was recently included on a local music compilation for Zia Records, so that's pretty cool!

Anyway would love to hear what you think. Unlike a lot of times when I share music that's 100% done, I may be going back to add/change a few things on this one before the album is done (since it's gonna be at least 6 months or so before I release it), so any thoughts are appreciated :-) I already have a couple ideas on what I want to change, but feedback would be great.

Enjoy!

You were smart to keep the elements simple.  Some people when they compose throw way too many into the mix.  How'd you get the drums to sound so good.  Are they live?

Thank you! That's actually an amazing compliment because no they're not live. It's drums out of Addictive Drums 2 (a mix of me playing on the keyboard and cutting pieces out of some of the midi packs) and then just some various effects on it and stuff to get them sounding real good.  I forget exactly what, I can take a look... But I'm pretty sure I'm using iZotope Trash2 on there for the distortion, and then a couple other things.

Very cool David - the drums do sound good but maybe take a little top end off the snare?

I like this side of you, David.  After hearing so many moviesque soundtracks, it's cool to hear some thrash from you.

Thanks Lynn! You know the reason I got into making music in the first place was because of industrial groups like Ministry, KMFDM, Nine Inch Nails, etc... I just didn't have the skills yet to actually make the music I was trying to so I took a loooooong detour through lots of other genres on my way back around to it :-) I still love making all the other genres but I'm glad I'm finally able to make some stuff like this too.

Yeah, I can sorta hear that.

I think it works well under that genre.    The drums are bangin'...

Kick ass tune.  I totally love it.  The sounds are great, deep and professional and it draws you right in if you're into it, and I am.  Nice work, seriously.  If this came on the radio, I would turn it up loud...even if my wife was in the middle of talking.

Thanks so much! I really appreciate it. I'm literally working on music for a project right now as one of my sample drives is failing on me, so I'm sort of in a bad mood to say the least haha, so your comment rules :-)

    Hi David!

Personally, I'd like to hear that bass arpeggio up in the mix more. Drums sound great, but the movement and ebergy in the arp would be cooler up front, IMO.
