New Tune #2, Mix #1

https://soundcloud.com/bats-brew/tune-2-mix-1

here's a new song i'm just starting to mix,
my thought is that i need to bring up more midrange energy, and maybe make the sound of the mids more dense thru a bit more compression.

i use compression throughout the mix, but it's always very light, with very little reduction...
i like the sound of the mix open,
but i'm finding i'm ending up with huge crest factor:
mix output was at -18.1 LUFS, with -18.9 rms and true peak at -2.4!!
LOL

then temp-mastered with light compression, and limiting to get to about a K-12 level.

will probably re-sing the whole thing.
ideas are welcome.

Mix wise it sounds OK here Bat, there is an overall vibe to the song that feels familiar, can not put a furry claw who but still familiar.  Will keep the ears open for its possible development.

    hey wookiee!

there is a reason why it seems familiar,
and it's dead simple and you are correct,
but i don't want to let out the 'reveal' yet.
    LOL

    thanks for listening.

i just re-tracked all the vocals today! (3 lead vox, 7 backups)

Mix sounds fine in my office headphones!
Love the change up at ~2:10...
Would've left a comment, but I'll wait for the finished version.

    hey arlen!
if you've got some insights, or ideas, or critiques, or hear unheard belches and farts,
    or anything that is funky,
i'd love to hear about it!
cuz i'm changing things right now!

    Sad face. I couldn't listen

StudioCat > I use Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum. I have a touch screen.
I make some videos. This one shows how to do a physical loopback on the RME UCX to get many more equalizer nodes.
