New Uno 1x1-TTS1 using 6 channels for guitar? moot point, GR20 acting up now.

Preferences found the Uno ok
Using my GR20 guitar synth
Installed TTS-1 thru insert synth
Each string has a channel?
I suppose this could be interesting for experimenting, but why, and is there a way to send them all to one?

Try setting the track input to MIDI Omni.

    Thanks, but no change.
I also tried several other input settings to no joy.

Its the setting on the GR20 that's the problem. Sonar records MIDI on whatever channel you send it on so if you send each string on a different channel, that's what will be recorded.

Edit: I downloaded the manual and it says you need to put the GR20 into Poly mode. You probably have it in Mono mode.

    Page 28: Poly Mode transmission
Performance data for all strings will be transmitted on a single
MIDI channel. The selected MIDI CH will be used. Since the
entire guitar will use only one channel, this lets you conserve
MIDI channels. This also lets you control a sound module that
is not able to receive six channels simultaneously.

To answer the other question, here is a more practical use of sending each string to a different channel http://project5.technetos...hannelize-guitar.shtml Although the example uses a now defunct CW DAW, the method works just as well in SONAR.

    Thanks guys.
    Lots to looking to.
However, during this process I have just now run up against a new problem.
I think my midi pickup may be acting up or dying.
I now get no signal to the GR20 on my low E and the D string.
This is not just thru Sonar. I disconnected it all and went back thru my amp and no sound from E or D string.
Can these midi PUPs just quit like that?

Yes they can, but it's more likely a cable. Pups usually only seem to be a problem on second had gear. If you have a spare cable give that a try, also try a little deoxit or something similar on the cable connectors giving you a problem. What type of PUp do you have?

    Thanks,
    It's a GK-3
I sprayed tuner control clean and lube to no change.

It is second hand but has worked for a few years just fine.
Rock solid in fact. Love it. Gonna miss it.

The only cases I remember seeing of bad PUps, the internal wiring gets loose - I wouldn't expect that to happen unless you've been getting caught up in the wire from the PUp to the controller and you've been pulling on it. Did you try a different 13 pin cable?

Thanks, I think I've been pretty careful but I guess it's possible.
I don't have another cable but I guess it's worth buying to see.
