New Update Messed up Breverb
After installing the new update every track in my catalog that used Breverb has now gone to a fizzy distorted sound. Turning off the effect solved it, but I would have to replace it with another reverb. Not cool. I was one who took the offer from Overloud to have it permanently. Any suggestions on how to get things back to normal?

If you re-engage BREVERB is it still distorted? Is it distorted if you insert it in a new track/project? What sample rate is the project you're working at?

I re installed it from the offer codes from Overloud. It probably won't be the updated version, but now it's ok. When I did re-engage it still happened. Didn't try insert in a new track. Sample rate is 44100.

I updated yesterday and have a horrible distortion on all my projects. Sounds like severe overload. But VU meters are fine. I do use BREVERB but I haven't identified it as the culprit. Does the distortion stop if you disable BREVERB? I will try later. It did disappear when I clicked the button to bypass all effects. My projects are 44100 kHz 24-bit, I use Windows 10 (latest update) and TASCAM 16x08 with latest stock ASIO drivers.

So you have the full version installed... Did you try a reset/rescan of your VST folder?

There are actually 4 versions of Breverb now: The full paid version. The original locked Cakewalk Sonar special edition. The permanently unlocked version of the Cakewalk Sonar special edition (limited time offer from Overloud in 2017). The updated locked version of the Cakewalk special edition included in the latest Cakewalk by BandLab update.

Do all these versions have the same dll name? And if so, overwrite the existing version in ...\Cakewalk\VstPlugins shared by Splat [2017.10] 64 bit? I assume that Splat 32 bit is unaffected...

I have updated to the latest version of bandlab and I also availed of the latest version of Breverb2 and no issues except starting up. The UI is very slow. Its supposed to be faster but on my Pc its slower. Breverb is still continuing the special offer they made to cakewalk users to get the unlocked version with the full upgrade at $99 DOLLARS.

Correct. Breverb 2 is the full commercial VST version. That is why I suggested a reset/rescan of the VST folder. Like fitzj, I also have Breverb2 and am not experiencing any noticeable problems.

So it seems BandLab has renegotiated with Overloud to continue development of Cakewalk versions of their products.
Upgrading to the $99 version should fix any issues, right?!
Otherwise, is it possible to keep the unlocked versions separate from the Cakewalk versions so they don't affect each other?

BREVERB and TH3 have shipped with every version of Cakewalk by BandLab. The difference this time is that we've included the normal VST version of BREVERB Cakewalk (which was in a separate SONAR installer previously) and that we received updated files from Overloud for these. The full paid BREVERB 2 (currently version 2.1.10) has a separate plugin instance from BREVERB 2 Cakewalk (version 2.1.13).

This updated BREVERB 2 I assume installs as: ...\Program Files\Cakewalk\VstPlugins\BREVERB SONAR\BREVERB 2 Cakewalk-64.dll Please could you tell me if or how this affects Splat 64 bit 2017.10. I still use Splat 32 to load some older projects & upgrade them 64 bit and they're currently consistent with Splat 64 & hope this is the case with CbB, before doing an upgrade? And does this include a change to the ProChannel module? Thanks...

CbB and 64bit SONAR share the same utilities, PC modules and plug-ins. CbB updates have no impact on 32bit SONAR installs.

What's the precise difference between the two? And do both these plugins still work in the latest Cakewalk bB?

If you re-install the unlocked version everything will return to normal. This is version 2.1.12 BTW. Upgrading to the full version should fix any issues. The full version installs a separate .dll file for the VST.

So if I'm not confused... updating CbB will relock the unlocked version. Then reinstalling the unlocked version will overwrite CbB's relocked version but you're left without a current updated version. And this has to be done because the new version is part of the CbB install. Right?!

That or move it into a path after the version bundled with CbB or in a path not scanned by CbB at all.

Probably. It might be easier to re-install or make a decision about how much effort to expend chasing a free reverb.

I think the dll file is looking for dependencies that can't be renamed or moved so we're basically locked to re-install or finding an alternative, as per scook above.

Here (on my lap) the unlocked Breverb version is also messed up. It runs for a certain time in any DAW (including Sonar, CbB), but then suddenly it begins to sound with a terribly beeping tick (also in CbB). And it doesn't help that I had installed it in another path then CbB's. Also the reinstall of the unlocked version has not cured it. I am glad that I did not yet install CbB on my recording tower (still use Splat there), but only on my laptop. That has been a wise decision! It seems the scepticism about CbB overlapping the installation of Splat, that some expressed here on the forum, has been justified!

As long as the latest updated version also opens in SPLAT it should be fine. My go-to favorite reverb is still StudioVerb2 tho, only available in 32 bit Sonar, so I keeps 32 bit installed.
