New Upgraded Full Breverb crashing Sonar
Heads up, folks. Last night, I upgraded to the latest Breverb version and I'm getting repeated crashes when I bounce using it. On my current project, I haven't succeeded with a bounce using the new version. Perhaps I messed up the install somehow? Anyway, thought I'd make a post and see if anyone else is having issues. I am running my PC hot with this project, but when I switch out Breverb for Perfect Space, I'm able to bounce without issue.

I haven't experienced that using the full version of Breverb.
When you mention you're running it hot, does that mean you're maxing your memory or what?

So, no error message. Just the crash and the crash dump window to send the dump to Sonar. I installed the new version directly where I had the old version installed. Running it hot means I recorded 2 tracks at 192 just for fun because I never do (one for my guitar and vocal and one for my friend's guitar). Each Track is 1 hour 25 minutes long. Both tracks have a number of fx including ca2a, console emulation, eq, tl-64 tube leveler. They both have sends to a verb bus and on the verb bus I now have perfect space because breverb would cause Sonar to crash when I bounced to tracks. I could listen ok and that was fine, but when I bounced to tracks Sonar would crash and I would send the dump. It would get so far that it was rendering the image of the wav file before it crashed. Sometimes it would crash mid way through bouncing the song. So, I put Perfect Space on and now I can bounce the tracks. Running hot means that the processors are pushed hard. I have to disable perfect space auditioning to adjust volume envelopes etc. Then I enable perfect space and bounce. To tell the truth, I'm mixing listening to Breverb as I work and then disabling breverb and enabling perfect space for the bounce. Perfect space is causing crackle b/c the processor can't keep up with the work load. I need a faster computer!! haha. I've got one on the wish list, but I'm hoping to wait until fall at least before splurging. My laptop is 7 years old... give or take.

Maybe do a test with a couple tracks and lower settings so you aren't taxing the system as much to see if Breverb is actually the cause. Kind of sounds like it's just getting overwhelmed. However I was under the impression Breverb was less resource intensive than Perfect Space. Perhaps not. Hope you get it sorted. Cheers.

Breverb should definitely be less CPU demanding than Perfect Space.
Obviously you're testing the limits of your particular computer.

So, it occurs to me some things I've written in this post are vague. 1. I've been using the full version of Breverb since November or so. 2. Last night when I opened Breverb, a message box said there was an upgrade available and 'click here to download'. I shut down Sonar and installed Breverb over top of the old DLL. 3. Immediately after doing this, my problems started. 4. I tried Preferences > VST Settings > Reset ALL VSTs > Scan VST Folders 5. Breverb does still work when auditioning the audio. 6. Perhaps the problem is with the specific Breverb Algorithm I had chosen. a. I was set to Guitars > Deep Arp Algorithm. Dry was off and Wet was full (0). b. after changing the algorithm to Guitars > Old Warm I managed a bounce to tracks and then immediately crashed. c. after a restart I tried again and immediately crashed. d. at one moment, I was auditioning with the global FX Bypass in the control bar enabled and I crashed. Breverb was technically enabled on the track, but the global bypass was on so ... ? does that exonerate Breverb? I had just finished my only successful bounce with Breverb Enabled in this project... did Breverb fail to clean up memory properly? e. Curious, I restarted the project, disable Breverb, Enabled Perfect Space and Bounced successfully the exact same segment that had been failing only when Breverb was enabled. f. Next, I opened an old 44.1 project and bounced successfully using Breverb's Guitars > Deep Arp Algorithm. 7. Beepster, I agree that the problem is probably associated with the enormous wave files I'm mixing. I do not have a problem at 24 bit 44.1. 8. Regardless of all else, everything works when I disable Breverb. And when I enable Breverb, Bounce to Tracks fails, every time in this one project 24 bit 192.

Had you tried bouncing with the older version of Breverb in this project? Did it work? If you did and it didn't then yeah, might be a bad patch. Probably best to contact Overloud about it or check their forum (if they have one... I'm not sure). Maybe uninstall it and stick to the older version for now? This is why I'm hesitant to install updates right away. I always check here and elsewhere on the net for a few weeks first. I am however a little paranoid. ;-)

Lawajava, I have CPU Limits for sure, but I don't think I'm testing CPU Limits. In the case of CPU Limitations, I usually get crackling not a Sonar Crash. Also, I'm able to audition Breverb without any crackling. Interestingly, crashes often come as control is being released from Breverb and returned to Sonar, like when a mix has just finished bouncing, or just after hitting the space bar to stop auditioning/play back.

Beepster, I don't have the old version :-( I'd try it for sure to see if it resolves my issues. I think you're right about going to Overloud. To tell the truth, I posted here because I hoped I might caution my friends. And I've totally forgotten how much I've loved Perfect Space. A great friend for years as just walked back into my life! :-)

I for one appreciate the warning. Not sure if that update would effect us Breverb Lite users. Personally... IDK, I haven't really found Breverb to be that amazing. The Sonitus stuff sounds more how I like but I'm not really a huge fan of lots of reverb in general and I haven't spent a lot of time playing around with Breverb itself. I find it's a little heavy handed. Meh.

I noticed a new version of Breverb is out yesterday, so, sounds like they fixed a something. :-) I haven't tested it yet.

gswitz - I have the full version of Breverb and like it a lot. I appreciate both your heads up about a potential issue with the new patch and also for your follow up to note that maybe a patch to the new version is already out.

BTW, on Monday 6/16/2013, I got another offer to upgrade Breverb. I would have upgraded and re-tested, but I was late for an adventure, so... :-) I'll re-post to this thread once I'm back in my hobbit hole. So literally, I installed the upgrade on Friday and by Monday there was a newer version. That's a quick turn-around.
