New VS-700 driver, v2.01 - anyone update?
Anyone notice the new VS-700 drivers on the Roland site? In another thread, xtrumpetor mentioned that the Octa-Capture drivers had been updated to version 1.50. As I was downloading them, I also checked for updates to the VS-700 and sure enough, there is a new update to version 2.01. Anyone update either one of them yet? The new control panel for Octa-Capture adds some nice features that I'd like to use but not sure if I have to update the VS-700 drivers to see them? Cheers, jayson

Have not seen it either. Strange there is no notification in the forum top section. There's no description of what this driver add, here it is for those who wish to try it. I think I will.

I will wait for driver 2.0.2. 2.0.1 caused a random track in every project to be silent. And had odd numbers on the control screen of the VS-700C. So I rolled it back and everything is back to normal. :)

Did you check what the update was for? There are several updates that are specific to special equipment or functions. You might not need them all depending on what you're using.

Looks like it's an update for the vs-700 to help it deal with the octa=capture update. That's what Roland tells to install in the updated pdf: how to expand the vs I/O with the octa-capture. I think I will wait for an official announcement in this forum before installing anything.

I think I will wait for an official announcement in this forum before installing anything. Submit the question to Cakewalk support. This is not the support chat forum. I haven't dealt with the Octa-capture or I'd be happy to help.

I also found the updated pdf file so might try setting a restore point and installing them ... but that will have to wait until the weekend. Cheers, jayson

Hi Friends, Just a brief update and hopefully clarification to any confusion regarding some driver updates. This is what I understood initially about this update but was waiting on official word for full clarification. The OCTA-CAPTURE has just been updated with new firmware and new drivers. Basically this introduces a few things for OCTA-CAPTURE owners: - The stand-alone control panel UI has been updated - There is smaller available ASIO latency - The Sample Rate can now be switched directly from the control panel UI As I'm sure you're aware, the OCTA-CAPTURE has a function known as "VS EXPAND" to expand the total number of IO by syncing the ASIO drivers with another VS EXPAND supported device. Supported VS EXPAND configurations are: - Two OCTA-CAPTURES - One OCTA-CAPTURE and a VS-700R - One OCTA-CAPTURE and a VS-100 So, with the OCTA-CAPTURE firmware and drivers being updated, VS EXPAND itself was also updated. Hence, the updates to the VS-100 and VS-700 drivers. The .pdf regarding VS EXPAND mode was also updated. Available at http://www.roland.com/sup...700SET&id=46170303 From my understanding there shouldn't be any risk involved for anyone (OCTA-CAPTURE owners or not) to update to the latest drivers drivers. I have not personally run into any weirdness with them. Additionally, there is no firmware update required for VS-100 or VS-700 owners. However, OCTA-CAPTURE owners MUST update their firmware for the drivers to install/work correctly. Lastly, VS-100 and VS-700 Mac OS X drivers have not changed. I hope this helps to clear up any confusion. I'm not sure how many topics have been going around the forums during the past week (it's been very, very busy for us internally) so please feel free to share this info. By the way, Happy New Year everyone! I hope it's treating you all well so far. -Ryan

There is a risk for some of us. After updating drivers and firmware, I (and several others) are getting dropouts and glitches when there was none before. Roland hasn't been able to help with this. Each one individual works fine, but when they are synced the system becomes pretty much unusable. you can get the the dropout to mostly stop at the cost of VERY high latency. Any ideas would be great! I am running X1c x64, on Win7 x64 home premium , i7 2600k processor, 12GB ram. I have nothing to add, except that even though I have absolutely no use for any more ins or outs, I still want an Octa-capture to add to my VS-700. Just because. I'm sick, I know...
