"We hope this newsletter finds you enjoying the holiday period, and would like to take this opportunity to deliver some news of the forthcoming
S-GEAR v2.5 release.
A PRECISION TUNER FOR S-GEAR For a long time we have been asked why S-GEAR does not have a tuner. Well, we are pleased to announce that with
S-GEAR v2.5, we will introduce a ultra fast and accurate tuner, worthy of inclusion in S-GEAR. We’ve teamed up with UK pitch detection specialists
Sonuus to bring you an S-GEAR guitar tuner with a fast response and tuning accuracy to within a 1/2 cent. The new S-GEAR tuner employs the same high quality pitch detection technology used in the Sonuus tuners and Audio-to-MIDI convertors.

A highly visibility analogue style meter provides smooth yet responsive ballistics to make precision tuning as easy as possible, right down to the low bass guitar strings. The fast note tracking and note indicator is also a useful tool for learning your way around the fretboard or deconstructing some of your favourite chords.
One word of warning, don’t get too obsessed with tuning right down to within 1/2 cent accuracy - you may find you spend more time tuning than playing! You may also realise that your guitars need an intonation setup and perhaps some graphite in the nut slots to prevent strings sticking.

NEW 2x12" CABINET OPTIONSWe've been back in the studio to make some further cabinet measurements for S-GEAR.
We acquired this superb ported back 2x12” cab and loaded it with both Alnico Gold and G12-65 speakers, the preferred cabinet configuration of John Mayer and Robben Ford.
I would also like to take this opportunity to tell you a bit about our Impulse Response capture process. All our measurements are made in a professionally treated studio which has a pleasantly damped acoustic. This allows us to make a longer (more accurate) IR measurement without capturing unwanted room acoustics. All our sweep measurements are captured at 96 KHz sample rate, then we use a custom developed software utility to apply sample rate conversion to the raw measurements before deconvolving and carefully trimming the resulting impulse responses. The entire process is very clean with measurements and impulses remaining in the 32bit floating point domain throughout.
S-GEAR v2.5 will include various bug fixes and other interesting enhancements. The expected release date is mid-January 2015. As always, quality remains our top priority, we want to make sure you get the full benefit of every upgrade we deliver. And yes, S-GEAR v2.5 is another free upgrade for S-GEAR license holders.
We look forward to bringing you more good stuff in 2015 and we wish you a peaceful and happy time over this holiday period.
Best wishes,
Mike"
