New annoying social media bar showing up on my browser
I don't know if this is a new thing that Cakewalk and a few other sites are using for their own sites but it's showing up on my browser and its quite annoying. Anybody know how I can deactivate it? Its a vertical bar that's on the left hand side with links to Facebook, Twitter, etc. It's quite distracting and takes away some of the focus of the official site's home page.

Have you tried the oibvious? Looking at View\Toolbars in IE? You should see it and the name. Then you can turn it off and delete it. If it's not there then you need to find out the mname so you can dlete it. Check IE add ons in Tools menu. Right click on bar-does that show anything. Should be simple to get rid of.

It's an addthis.com widget. It's coded into the Web page. Nothing you can do. Everyone's using those types of widgets lately. They're obviously just using it for quick access to site pages, etc. Not really a big deal. At least it scrolls with the page like a real menu.

Guys, it's a Web page with links enabling people to share said Web page, which in turn will hopefully drive more traffic to the CW site. Really, it has nothing to do with your X1 application. Everything's gonna be okay. Really. ;-)

StepdD And your post is about which part of SONAR X1? This forum's becoming more about "post critiquing" than anything else and now I've joined the group myself. edited to clarify who I was addresing; though I figured it was obviously to the post preceeding mine

Ah, okay. I had no idea what the point of your comment actually was. On my end, I'm just explaining what the toolbar on the CW site is, and that it's harmless and not tied to the X1 application in any way, so it's nothing to worry about. In fact, using those kinds of links are a good idea these days. I don't have personal Twitter or FB accounts either (and I'm a Web guy), but I definitely accept their value for companies. And no, I definitely don't consider myself a post critic. I'd say the vast number of my 300 measly posts in the past nine years have been trying to give people a hand if anything.

I agree. It is very annoying. It makes the overall impression of the website very aesthetically displeasing. Perhaps they should place an annoying social media bar on the right side as well, to regain a sort of balance. P.S. It looks much better in Chrome. In Chrome it shows up in the bottom left corner. Much more pleasing to the eye.

OK, I'm starting to see this more frequently at other websites now. I guess it's something we all have to get use to now that social media is booming. Sites could atleast choose to put it lower on the bottom once a user scrolls down further, instead of disctracting them from their splash page.
