I came across this article recently seems like Bandlab is getting really serious, hopefully if they take over the publishing Sonar/Bandlab will get to a wider base.

Apparently, AWS Production software is as easy to use a Abelton Live.

At least the profile was forthright in citing the sole source of the deep dive information: Source: BandLab

    AWS?

Sorry don't recall seeing reference to either AWS or Ableton...

Hmm...Sonar is now 'pay what you like' it says...is this a hint at something to come or a typo?

It all seems positive - if what's been written accurately represents the direction of Sonar and Bandlab. The only thing I would say is - whilst I agree that the future of music making is mobile, but not on your handheld computer...if this is what was meant when the article mentions the future of music making being mobile. In the beginning, I was all for making music on an iPad or Windows Tablet...but I realize that this was wrong and problematic. For one it encourages the errant button pushers to further establish the idea that their musicians and composers, when in fact they're nothing more than human AI ;). Mobile computing, unless it's a laptop also encourages music to be further dumbed down. Not that you can't create music using a synth on your iPad or indeed phone. I had some fun synths when I used an iPad a few years ago, but I can read and write music at the highest level and also play instruments at the highest level. You would expect me to be able to make music from a toy. But when an errant button pusher gets the toy to go ping for the first time, it's like a child enthralled with hearing it's own voice. At least a child grows up...the errant button pusher never does lol.

In the future though, because I try and see things from as many angles as I can...but in the future and using augmented reality to get around the screen limitations might make the handheld computer or smartphone if you're confused...useable for music production. But you have to get around a few limitations and create a universal platform...so Sonar on Android, Windows and yes even Mac.

I make mobile music every weekend. I load up my van and mobile to the gig. Then, around 1 in the morning, load it all up and mobile back home.

If they'd pay me to just show up with my smartphone, that would be awesome.
