I have believe that someone may very well buy cakewalk and continue under a new name, new look, new features..... very possible.

I would be happy if someone buys the technology (since Gibson only cares about consumer electronics now and doesn't GAF about DAWs anymore) and merges it into their DAW. Presonus Studio One is the closest thing to SONAR.

I believe much better for us option is somebody would buy Cakewalk and keep Sonar as it was. Using just some its technologies to incorporate into other DAW wouldn't be for us such great as we would lose many things we love in Sonar because such owner would take mostly into consideration  its own users habits...

Id say if a buyer was available then Gibson would have already sold Cakewalk.

As much as it pains me to say it I don’t think Cakewalk has any value in a crowded market place.

They had an opportunity to sell Slingerland, and they did not. You can search and read up about it.

Given Gibson's track record, that is highly unlikely. The primary value of Cakewalk is the bakers, so if they are not present, the value of the company will drop well below what Gibson would ask for it. Unfortunately, that appears to be the path presented as of today. Too many products have found acquisition by Gibson to be a one-way street.

ASUS ROG Maximus X Hero (Wi-Fi AC), i7-8700k, 16GB RAM, GTX-1070Ti, Win 10 Pro, Saffire PRO 24 DSP, A-300 PRO, plus numerous gadgets and gizmos that make or manipulate sound in some way.
