New de-esser from HoRNet

Haven't tried it yet, but intend to. Another simple and inexpensive plugin from Saverio Vigni, it's called Sybilla and goes for 17 bucks.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

    I'll be giving this a look as well, although I don't need another de-esser - well I think I don't!
I suppose if this is easy / better than what I use (Sonnox) for 17 bucks............
Oh and I have Saverio's channel strip which I find very useful and good quality - that was "cheap" as well.

I did a quick test, and it seems to work very well!  Having just two knobs, one being a very handy mix control, makes it easy to dial in a natural sound.

It's too soon for a final verdict, but it's possible that this may unseat my current default de-esser -- the Nomad Blue Tubes plugin -- which has taken all challengers to date.

    Cheers,

Thanks for pointing it out. The collection of plug-ins from Hornet is interesting to see. Prices are enticing.

Two internal 2TB SSDs laptop stuffed with Larry's deals and awesome tools. Studio One is the cat's meow as a DAW now that I've migrated off of Sonar. Using BandLab Cakewalk just to grab old files when migrating songs.

Hi guys Saverio from HoRNet Plugins here, i found that on gearslutz there is a de-esser shootout that includes Sybilla so you can judge by yourself!

I don't know if i'm allowed to post links to other forums here, but anyway it's in the "Music computer" forum.

Sybilla it's quite a young product so if you have any suggestion on how to improve it i will gladly listen!

Just to let you know that i've just released an update to Sybilla adding 2 more detection filters, on/off switches for each filter and a new GUI

The update is free for all the existing customers :)

Hi all.  Just came across a Youtube vid about removing those S sounds so had a look here in the forum for a plug in. I was listening to one of my songs and thought the S was really annoying but wasnt sure how to remove it. Glad such an item exists and just ordered the above plug in from hornet so looking forward to using it.

Luckily the pronounciation of finnish languge gives MUCH less use for de-essers than many other languages. I've never needed one for vocals. This HoRNet-collection seems to be worth investigating, though.

Listening to, say, polish female singers I think de-essers must have originally been invented in Poland :o)
Female british, (especially) Oxford accent can be a nightmare, too. I remember, about 25+ years ago, the "s" of a british
actress was so whizzling, that it caused blackouts in the TV-broadcast several times during the movie because it was close enough to the signal used to automatically shut down the station when broadcasting was finished for the day.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.
